The last 2 nights I've been getting a burning pain that starts in my toes and travels upward. It feels like I'm being boiled in oil. I cried in pain for over 5hrs. each night. I take Neurontin which is supposed to help but obviously it isn't. I cannot stand this much longer. Any suggestions that anybody has would be a godsend!

Oh baby, I know what you are going thru! You need a higher dose of Neutontin. Thats what my neurologist did for me when I called her in the middle of the night. I get a bucket of cool (not cold or tepid) water and soak my feet and legs in it when this happened. Or sit on the edge of the bathtub and run the water over them using a huge cup or pot with handle. It seemed to help me. If you cant increase your neurontin right away, take 2 ibuprofen and so the water therapy. I hope it soothes you somehat. NOTE: it doesnt always work right away, but eventually those nerves calm down.

Thanks for the ideas, #!*?% Dr. has me PO'd 3 calls & he still hasn't gotten back to me!! I'm ready to inquire about amputation! So far I've tried upping my baclofen(have a pump) + i take 30mg oral now up to 45mg. My neurontin I take 100mg at lunch & supper & 400mg at bed. Even 600 at bed doesn't help + 3 advil. Unfortunately I am alone at night w/ no use of my arms or legs so I can't try your cool water idea. Well bedtime caregiver is here off to the torture chamber. :(

I did 10 years of nursing and I learned is that they say when you have burning in the area that has pain that you might have a damaged nerve. I am dealing with the same thing after my fall last year, I damaged the nerve in my arm and hand and I have alot of burning in it at times. I feel your pain with you but still see your Dr. dont waait to long. good luck
