How so you, yourself, collect stamps? By topic, by country? Do you have any special interests?
Tell every one!
Happy Posting! =D

I don't have any special interests.
I have my stamps categorized by country, then by topic. Most of my stamps depict animals and plants, then sport and art.

I like to collect First Day Issue Stamps.
It's a little bit more expensive, but it's more neat.

Hello noah2413, I am a topic collector, it never started out that way, but you know how things get bigger and bigger. My topic is space flight and astronomy. That began ages ago, I think due to the amount of headway in discoveries in those years (1960's 1970's).
I look forward to your discussions and posts on stamps. G'day from Oz.

Years ago, I worked in an international community and I every six months we get about a hundred visitors from around the globe and that's how I collected my stamps. Back then internet was still a baby.
I like snail mails because I get stamps. However, the electronic mail has already become almost everybody's choice since it's cheaper and fast.

Hello noah2413......
I've been collecting a little over 48 years, my main interest now is the classic era centering on the US Civil War and world wide for about the same time period. I also have a few minor modern collections I'm working on, one is a collection of this years stamps on cover from as many different countries as I can get my hands on, I'd like to be able to find one from every country.
In my discussions I have an offer of free stamps to anyone who would like them, all I require is a written request using new stamps on your envelope. Let me know if you're interested.
Happy collecting.......

Learning how to collect stamps is very easy and I'll list some tips below to help begin.
Rather than just start collecting stamps of very colour, shape and size, many people like to get started collecting specific stamps. This can be things like sporting stamps or stamps of a certain colour.
This is a great way to start building your stamp collection with some interest rather tahn just buying stamps for the sake of it.
You don't necessarily have to collect old stamps.
You can start off by buying new stamps, which ensure that you won't get any duplicates.
There many brand new limited edition stamps which are released each year and make a great way to start your collection.
If you don't have money to spare, then you can begin by asking friends and family to look to see if they have any stamps that they don't want, or even ask them to save stamps that come from foreign country, such as postcards or family letters.
Always keep a look out if any collections become available.
This can be as simple as a car boot sale or garage sale.
Even online auction sites can have bargain available as people don't realise just how much things are worth and simply just want to clear up some space for new things. So always keep a look out.
Hopefully these tips will give you more ideas on learning how to collect stamps so you can get started straight away.
Regard.
