Hello, I have a 98 IHC 4700 with a DT466E 190HP engine. Is there a way to increase the horsepower without spending a fortune on it? It has 125,000 miles on it. It runs good and it has good maintenance on it. Also @ 50 degres and under it is hard to start without the block heater plugged in.Your help and comments are appreciated. Thank you.

That is not a lot of miles on one of those. A pump shop can bump it up 10-15% but without going into the turbo changes or even deeper that is about it. There are aftermarket propane injection systems but then you are also buying propane on top of the already overly expensive diesel.

The pump on this one is electronic. You are correct about the turbo and injectors . It was like pulling teeth at the dealership to find out from them. Also there was something about setting up ECM or onboard computer. I am not looking to get it done for low costs.I thought there might be another way. Looks like it might be easier to swap out. But it is a nice truck. Thank you.
