When I think about it, really all of us who post on myLot, or other forums, have our own blogs, websites, post videos on youtube, or contribute anywhere else on the 'net, etc - we all have our "15 minutes", because thousands of people all over the world read what we post......I think that may be what Warhol was talking about - he prophesied the way communications has snowballed to the extent that we can all have our say, and broadcast it throughout the planet.
Anyway, apart from that, my 15 minutes occurred many years ago when I was working at the Ferguson TV factory in Enfield - Prince Philip was visiting, with all the usual hoopla that such an event brings with it, and he came up to me, patted me on the back and told me I was "doing a grand job, young man!" and a picture appeared in the Daily Mirror next day.
Oh yeah, doing a grand job, so that thousands could watch Coronation Street - ahahaha!

Sadly I think I have! About 22 years ago, when snooker was the big thing in the UK, and shown on TV all the time, I got dragged along to a tournament by a girlfriend of mine. It was the Rothmans Grand Prix that used to be held in the Hexagon in Reading (my friend's hometown), and during the course of the week I was there, she and I got to know these two BBC cameramen who were working there. As you may recall, they always used to do a little musical compilation of trick shots, and funny moments at the end of these televised tournaments, and these two camerman decided it would be fun to include myself and my friend on this, and also to get endless shots of us in the audience at every available moment, but not to tell us. So you can imagine my surprise and chagrin, when my Father informed me that while he was watching the Final on TV, they kept on showing Ellen and myself in close up, and when they did the musical compilation we were the "stars" - "two daft blondes in short skirts" as my Father rather wrily described us! So - I guess I have had mine!!!

If you're only counting radio, the tv or newspapers as being 'fame', then no, I haven't had mine yet. But I don't really want to be famous - at least not majorly famous. That lifestyle is just too complicated, with the media in your face all the time.
I do feel a sense of honor and accomplishment about the people around my city who know me because I love theatre so much that I write sort of reviews on my journal. I've actually gotten more attention because of what I do than I ever expected, and it's the positive feedback from people that keeps me going, even though I'm so shy that sometimees it's hard for me to do it. So in that sense, I do feel like I've had all the fame that I could've wanted, and more, because I love the attention and love getting the chance to make people smile by writing my positive thoughts about shows. (I don't much like being negative, lol.)

Fame can come in any way shape or form.
To be known by so many does make you famous.

I replied to a simular discussion the other day and i really can't type it out again.
Although yes i have.
I've played football with professionals one which now plays in the premiership and was born here in nottingham. This gave me 15 mins of fame as it was filmed by our local news and i was happy to be amoung such talents.
Also i was nearly signed by a local club. i say nearly because i rejected the contact in hope that the local team which i support would offer me one although they didn't and there lower down. (stupid or what?)
Anyways not much here but these are things i'm happy about as now i can't play. fun days :)
Kudos!

Nope! But I'm anxiously awaiting mine! Actually, I think each person's "15 minutes" is different from what most people think it would be. It isn't necessarily being featured on a reality-TV show or your garage band hitting it big and becoming a one-hit wonder. I think it could be as minute as getting a major reward or recognition in your career, just something that gets your name out there but eventually becomes yesterday's news.

I am sure this is what he meant, that each one of us will get an oppotunity to be famous, not just in the celeb world.
Thanks for your response!!!!

got my name credited in the local paper after spending a weeks school work experience mostly typing up press releases & putting the words in a different order (when I wasn't reading the office stack of Empire magazines & dealing with (mostly exept for the trekkie) hip geek staff who thought me despite being a 14 year old girl living in a village with strict guardians and the film not quite legally out on video yet I'd some how seen Reservoir Dogs (I wish) or that I was a Trekkie.
My gran was convinced I was going to be "the next Jill Dando" because she'd started off working at the same paper The Weston Mercury.
Apart from that just "...the fifteen fame filled minutes of the fanzine writer"

I made the local newspaper front page in July 1957. I never saw it but my mother said it read: "Local Girl Survives Mexico City Quake". Back in those days the phones went through a switchboard. The local operator wanted to make a buck for a "scoop" when she got the call from Mexico City about 4 hours after the 6.8 quake and monitored the call. While it was a terrifying experience as it was my first earthquake it wasn't half as bad as the operator made out. I had arrived in Mexico in May and was still living in a small hotel. I didn't have to go to the lobby since I was on the ground floor but those on the two floors above had to. I found out the hard way what the phrase "I was petrified" meant. I was so tense with fear that every muscle in my body ached for three days.
Not sure that really qualifies for "15 minutes of fame" but it's the only thing I can think of that comes close.

The first earthquake is always the hardest. They hardly phase me any more....not that I have been in that many big ones. We get tremors here in Oeiras quite often but nothing to speak of. However, the experts every once in a while remind us that it is somewhat likely that Lisbon (25 miles away) could very well have another quake like the one in 1775 which destroyed a large part of the city. Lisbon is located on a fault. Most of the tremors we feel are usually from offshore epicenters.

That would be devastating!! I hope it never happens, as I am sure it would cause absolute meyhem!!
I remember years ago when I went to Bulgaria, I was sitting down on a chair and the most wierdest sensation came over me, I felt really lightheaded for a split second and felt that the ground had moved away from me.
I found out later it was from an earthquake tremor.
Also when we had one in Birmingham I felt the effect for a second. Its only when you find out what has happened does it make sense, as it is the strangest feeling.
I hope you do not have to experience anymore!!!

I'm pretty sure that everyone laughed at least 15 minutes the other day when I slipped on the ice and fell, causing my enormous a$$ to end up exposed to the world. The skirt was wind-blown up over the waist, the papers and books were blowing merrily down the street, while my a$$ was there for all to observe. Yes, it definitely seemed like 15 minutes...perhaps more. ha!

ERGH... I hope not. I'm still working toward being somewhat famous... then again the 15 min thing is a pretty lame goal.
Most artist don't get much fame untill after they die, so 15 min would be better than that.
