internet usage(how long on the internet is an acceptable amount for a child)

my 12yr old boy is on the internet allot about 6 hours a day
is this an alright amount or is it far to much? just wanna
make sure i am not destroying my child's social skills or something bye letting
him go on this much posts dearly asked for :)
p.s. he only plays mmorpgs nothing else

i think you should cut it in half to 3 hrs but let him go over his friends house more or do something he likes to get his mind of playing the game and eventually he wont be playing for 3 hrs mabey 1.5 or even a half hour and then go do something else

I have two views on this.
I do think that a 12 year old should be outside with friends and being a kid. Having fun while they are still young and innocent.
Then again, I am on the computer probably more than that, but I'm not nearly as young. I do play online games and I do know young kids who play them as well. You can meet a great amount of people online and make so many good friends that you would never have the chance of meeting if it were not for the internet.
It is really up to you and how you view how your kid is spending his time.
