Will extra US troops secure Baghdad?

Do you think the recent reinforcement of extra US troops being deployed to Iraq will succeed in increasing security and stability in Baghdad?

Personally I don't think so. The will to end the violence in Iraq has to come from the Iraqi people themselves. Right now I have the feeling the Shia and Sunni are determined to kill each other, rather than trying to create a peacful country. I also think most Iraqis see the Americans as occupiers and want them out.

I think you make a valid point. Apparently over the last week or so, violence and crime in Baghdad has decreased to some degree due to the extra US forces. You have to fear, however, that the insurgents are just lying low for now and will return at some point to resume their opposition.
