I have a library of Dean Koontz, James Patterson, John Sanford, Iris Johanson and other random murder or scary books. I also love R. A. Salvatore's Dark Elf series. The dark elf books are full of words to help with vocab. Other than that, the bloodier or scarier, the better.

Reading books certainly improves my vocabulary too. It's fun to learn new words and then using them. I read mostly teenage and young adult books. I also like Enid Blyton books too. I read them since I was younger. She's an excellent writer and I'm still reading her books. I'll never get too old to read Enid Blyton.
I don't read many thick, serious books now. I've tried tackling classics like Jane Eyre, Pride & Prejudice, and Emma. I loved Jane Eyre but Jane Austen's classics drained me out. The stories are nice but it was dragging and I got really bored. I like the story of Emma though and I read every word of it. For Pride & Prejudice, I skipped some parts which were too boring for me.
