do you decorate your child's room in an entire theme, like princess, dora or car themes. i find kids go through these different themes so often and it's so expensive to keep redoing the rooms. i personally dont' do it and i'm just wondering how many people hve themed rooms for their kids and how long have the themes lasted for.

When my daughter was an infant I did her room in disney babies. She had the stickers on the wall and all the stuffed animals from disney. Her mobil was disney and her blankets were all disney. When she got older I let her do her room any way she wanted. I went to take down the wall decorations that were disney babies she had a fit. She was about ten when she redid her room. She went with music stars on her walls and dragons every where. She still has them, the disney babie and she is sixteen. Don't tell anyone. She has sworn me to secrecy.

I started to do my son's room in Spiderman, but changed my mind. I do have the word "SPIDERMAN" painted on his wall and wall stickers, but he also has other things in there as well. He has a Power Rangers poster on the wall and all. :) My daughter doesn't have a room...she sleeps in the crib in my room, but when we get moved--hopefully--she will get her own room. She loves Princesses and Dora and Care Bears so much that there is no way we can odo her room in one thing. I know that my mom got her a Dora lamp and a couple of Princess things for her bday next month. :)

I did what the poster above mentioned. The room was painted a soft color and then the 'theme' was introduced with small accessories that were easily removed later. The hard part is when the children see the themed bedspreads and stuff and want them, those can get so expensive! A friend of mine shops ebay for those...sometimes they are new and sometimes just gently used. worth a try!

I love theme rooms!! When my daughter was 2 we did her room in Hello Kitty and it lasted until she wsa almost 6, and now it is in Bratz =) With my little boy we are doing super heroes, Spiderman & Superman. like it better than just plain stuff, but thatis just me =) It seems more like a kids room if it has characters all over.

As much as I want to, its very expensive to source themed decals or even artist to decorate rooms in the Phils. So what I did since they (my 2 kids) share in one room, is paint their walls in beige and bought those glow in the dark stickers for the ceiling. one part of the room is filled with peel-off Pooh characters for my little boy and another part is filled with snow white characters.

As a single mom of 3 kids, before I met hubby and had 2 more, all my friends had 'themed' rooms for their kids but iI never did because they only stay at that age for so long and than they want it changed.....I seen one friend spend over $1,000 dollars on the 'toy story' theme and than they wanted it changed to something for their age....I guess I'm just money wise and afraid of spending what I don't have

I've never gone with the themes because as you said, they come and go so quickly and the expense. I've always gone with a basic design and then "themed" with small accents such as a small lamp, pillows, stuffed animals or dolls and such. Less expensive than a whole room and can grow with the children.
