Did you hear about the chinease government painting a mountian green ?? Jeez.. how can they stoop so low. Just to make the bare mountain 'look good' - instead of planting trees, they just took a shortcut and painted the entire mountain. Locals nearby were furious as they had to move out coz of heavy smell of paint. Most of all i think they are tampering with the natural environment which is simply wrong !
What are you views ?

Surely that must come across as a total insult to the people of China, if it happened in this country there would be a commotion about it, people wouldn't accept it, they would be up in arms. Whoever's bright or should I say dim idea it was should have been questioned about his sanity! Questions need to be asked. That is so damn idiotic and just more proof that this world we live in is mad, totally and utterly mad!

The thing that is missing is is that green is more than a look. Today on a garden or weather show they said that planting one tree can remove tons of pollutants from the air. Instead they put paint fumes into the air. Not only is it wrong, it is sick.

I know it's not funny but I almost fell off my chair laughing at the thoughts of painting a whole mountain. It must have been really awful for the residents as even the smell of painting a house can be overpowering at times. I wonder how big the mountain was. It just seems so unreal that anybody could even think of doing such a thing. I'm going to do a search now to see if I can find out more about it. So much for Global Warming! Do they even care??

LOL, what a funny idea! Mountains don't need to be green to be lovely and beautiful. I would like to see a picture of this mountain before and after it was painted. I bet that it looked so much better before all of that paint was thrown on. Nature knows what it's doing - why does mankind have to mess with it? And then there is also the point that you were making about the paint fumes causing people to feel sick, and making people move their homes. That makes the whole thing even more ridiculous. Didn't the people putting all the paint on that mountain stop to think about the effects it would have on the neighboring population? Apparently not.

Oh my - I hadn't heard about that one. How dreadful. I'm sure so much of the local wildlife were killed, and damaged by their actions, not to mention the potential damage to residents with the smell of the paint, and the fumes, even though they did move the people out eventually. I can't believe people will tamper with nature in this way. How dreadful!

Wow the paint factory who made this must have been a millionaire now that they have to sell green paint for a whole mountain. I wonder why these officials think that they have to do this. Maybe some officials from the national government of maybe a foreign visitor are to visit their placed and they don't want to discover that they depleted their natural resources so they tried covering it up by painting the mountain so as not to attract attention but its too late they discovered that the paint they bought smells much more stronger attracting more attention to them LOL!

Is this a real thing or just anoterh net-myth? There is no way anyone one or any place would be silly enough to do that. The amount of paint would be to much to be practicle. Also how often would they have to repaint it? This has got to be another net-myth.

I think thats politics just to drag lot more tourist over there .... its a simple and a aristrocratic way to earn revenue..rather they should use it in creating proper infrastructure for the people living below poverty line or grant those money to the people in somalia and other people where people are mal nutritioned

I think that's the dumbest idea I've just about ever heard in my life. Number one, and mostly, how polluting can that be? Why can't they just plant grass at least? Be a little patient? What on earth are people thinking? This sort of thing really upsets me, I have to try not and think about it, it's just too wierd and senseless.

have never heard of such. Out of all the things that is tampering with the enviroment, I highly doubt this is one of huge signifigance. There are definetely things going on elsewhere and even in China that are "tampering" with our enviroment, like the car you drive to work everyday or the redneck who is too lazy to throw his Wendy's bag in the trash-can so he settles for the high-way. No disrespect, but I just think there is much more to worry about in China than a green painted mountain.

I did not know any thing about this , good that you updated me.
This is really very funny. I thought chinese people were very intelligent, how come they acted so foolish. How can artifical painting replace natural vegetation. Poor locals, they really must have suffered, the smell of paint is very strong and unbearable. what about the little children playing around. Yes of course I agree with you, we have had enough artificail things around us, now what they plan, to make the whole nature artificail. I don't think this idea is going to work out. They are wasting there time.

whoa! is this true... whatever were they thinking? painting a whole mountain just to make people think it wans't bare, however did they get away with that? i feel sorry for the people for having a government that would stoop this low. they should make a protest or something to effect a change in their government.
