why did the series came to an abrupt end

I have started watching the series very late. I really love it. One question which always intrigues is why did such a fine thing has to come to an end.
Was it because of friction between the 6 main characters or some any other reason.
BTW I feel that it is a fine piece of comedy and a lot of effort has been put to maintain the standard right through the 10 seasons.

it wasn't an abrupt end. they had been discussing ending the series since season 7. the actors wanted to move on to something new. they new for sure before they started season 10 that it would be the last season. that's why they tied up all the loose ends of the show and gave everyone a happy ending.

i think they ended it because they didnt want to mess up a good thing they didnt want it to get to the point where people got tired of friends so they wanted to end it on a good note instead of waiting until they got canceled

True... the series was amongst the best that have been ever produced... I think the team had to end it somewhere and it was good to end it in a good note rather than just pulling it over another 2 seasons...
