Do you grow straw berries in your garden. How long it takes to give fruits and how do you take care of it in winter?

As someone has already said, there are two varieties, the everbearing kind and the kind that bears fruit in June, July in temperate climates such as yours. You should find out from your garden centre which climate zone you live in and buy the variety best suited to your climate. Myself, I like the everbearing kind because all summer long until October you can pick a few every few days and add them to blueberries and other fruit for colour. My daughter in law surrounds the plants with straw and leaves it during the winter. She has never lost a plant to frost. Myself, I don't like that, because stray cats pee on the straw and the patch stinks, which means removing all the straw and putting out fresh straw. I usually put rhubarb leaves around the plants on the soil when the fruit has formed, to protect the berries from dirt and some insects. You can also buy climbing strawberries. Those have tiny berries and you can plant them in balcony boxes and train them on small trellises. Good luck next spring.

there are two varieties of strawberries, day neutral called everbearers that fruit all the year long, and short day types. day neutral like fern and aptos, can bear fruit just after 3 months of planting if favorable growing temp prevails. plant them in narrow planter boxes that are approximately 6"-8" deep, 5-7" wide with 18-14" long
