Why is Scent of a woman is the title? How does the title relate to the movie?

I have always wondered that myself. Maybe because he plays a blind man in it. So that might be the only thing that he likes the woman he falls for is her scent.

...I think because Pacino smelled that woman at the table...

Al Pacino, in the movie, could sense the perfume of all the women around him, and recognize it, and after the smell he could say many things about the woman. And all the discussions in the movie relate to only one thing. Women.

I'm also not sure about this. One thing I guess is that maybe the scent of a woman represents something that brings back the hopeless, depressed and blind womanizer colonel (Al Pacino) to life or in other words, something that cheers him up and makes him willing to live.
