I am a strong believer of naps! I have my kids take naps if they have 4 hours of free time before a scheduled activity. This ensurest that they are well-rested and are in a good mood for that particular activity. I also know that naps ensure proper growth and deveopment of a child. My kids are aged 8,7, and 6. I am more strict with my 6-year old because she is always in a cranky mood if she misses her nap.

My daughter was alway one to not need much sleep. Even when she was an infant and pretty much set her own sleep times, it was not as much as most other babies. She stopped taking naps all together at 2 years old. Of course, sometimes she would tell me she was sleepy and voluntarily go take one, but not often. Now she's a teenager and needs less sleep than I do. I can always tell if she's not getting enough sleep though, because she gets quiet. Usually she's talking a blue streak.

i guess your daughter needs it! why not, just let her take that nap.
my daughter is two years old and takes a nap almost every day! sometimes she calls me that she is awake and i get her out of bed and sometimes she asks me if she can go to bed.
the youngest one (9,5 months old) needs less sleep, that is what i already see as a difference between my daughters!

Both of mine had a sleep in the afternoon most days until they started school at 5. My son would sometimes have a sleep if we were going to have a late night until he was about 9. They just didnt cope very well with little sleep.

Although my kids began to stop napping around 3 years old, they still had to have what we called "quiet time" and it was up to them whether they slept or not, but they still had to stay in their rooms and rest for 1-2hours.
