What is your decision?

If a friend of yours asks you to spend a night at his house and they had a really poor family. And you know that he only has a single parent and you feel bad for him and everything. But then, your family wants to go on a vacation that you really like for a day. Which would choose? Your friend's side or your family's side?

Why don't you see if it would be possible for your friend to go with you and your family? If that isn't possible then just explain to the friend that you would like to spend the day with your family on that day but how about the next weekend. If he is a true friend it won't matter if he is rich or poor he will understand. Being poor is not the worst thing that can happen, and some of the poorest people I have known were rich in family life and ideas for having fun without money.

Friends side because I don't care to spend any more time with my family than is nessicary. Anyways I don't really have any poor friends considering my school costs like 6 or 7 grand a year...

It's all about decisions, right?!?!?!? I'll accept my friend's invitation then I could bring food with me and we can enjoy the time together or I could ask him to join me and my family. It's only one day and after that we can have the overnight at his house. That would be my answer cause I both love my family and friend. ;)

You should really put your family first in this instance. They won't always be going on a day trip so you should go with them. You can stay overnight with your friend at another time and it makes no difference if they are poor or rich. If they are welcoming you into their home to stay the night they must be rich of heart. You should let them know you have to go with your family but would be extremely honoured to stay over with them on another night.
People should not have friends out of sympathy, you should have friends because you genuinely like them :)
