Do you buy your school pictures of your kids? I always take my daughter to get her pictures taken because itis so much cheaper. And this year she is in Kindergarten and we got the packer for pictures. The cheapest one was $35 for a 5x7 and 6 wallets. I thought that was rediculous and didn't buy any! Do you buy your kids school pictures and if so how much are they?

My mom always thought it was a rip-off, BUT made sure to always buy the class photo.

Some people like to do this, others do not. Personally I do not like to hang posed pictures up in our house. The types of photographs that I like are spontaneous, in the moment snapshots. I will not buy these packages because they truly are a rip off and they look so posed.

We bought school pictures for our daughter this year and last. I was terrified they would be expensive (I remember my parents complaining) but they weren't. I spent just over $30 last year for the most expensive package and a class composite. I got like 2 8x10, 2 5x7, 4 3.5x5, 16 wallets and 8 trading ones, plus the class picture.
I didn't even use all of them so this year I did one of the cheapest packages and added an extra 8x10 and the class picture. It was like $20, I think.

I would love my kids to have photos done at school and would buy them if they were affordable. $35 sounds like a lot, I remember mine only being $15 or around that 10 years ago or so. Prices really have gone up. Hasn't developing gone down? I guess if they are too expensive, I'll just have theirs done at Penney's or I will just get my cam and do them as much as I want.

we also buy all the school pictures for our kids as well. It's nice to have them and we keep ours all on one shelf in order of years that way we can see the changes in them as you look along the pictures plus buying them from the school puts some money back into the school your child is attending.

Yes...we have bought the school picutures each year. We always choose the smaller packages which is much cheaper. We don't need all those picutres because our family is small in terms of relations. It is usually in the twenties for a small package so not too bad...

No, I do not. They are too expensive. I don't understand why they charge so much. I know the school gets some of the money, but it looks like they would make more if they reduced the prices and more people bought them.

I only buy the ones with Santa or something. Most of the time I take all my pictures or get an updated one taken every so often. I have plenty of pics since that's one of my hobbies.

Sometimes I buy those school pictures. Just because it's easier.....and sometimes the school doesn't charge as much. However, whenever I can, I send their nanny (or I go sometimes) to take their picture while the school photographer takes their pic. Most of the time, our own pictures come out nicer :)

Last year I got school pics for my now 4th and 2nd graders....with my son (the now 2nd grader) he frowned and they were horrible and I knew not to bother with retakes because they would have turned out the same (I tried to get retakes when he was in kindergarten and that's what happened) and with my daughter (the now 4th grader) I had retakes done because I just didn't like them the first time around. This year, I had my husband take the pictures, he has a degree in photography, and they turned out how I wanted them to. Next year, we'll do the same thing. And this way, I also get yearly pics of the younger kids who aren't in school, and I can get them printed in any size I want for pretty much cheaper than a package of pics I may not like will cost.

My mom used to be exactly the same way. She hated the time of year when we had our School photos taken and the price seemed to go up every year.
When we reached high School myself and my sister hated posing for the photos because we knew that mom wouldn't buy them.
When I had my own children it became a matter of whether to have all three pose together or not. I decided it was better that way because it wouldn't cost as much, but the photos themselves were still pretty damn expensive. It turned out to be cheaper for me to have a series of gallery photos done and they were much better quality too.

I buy my son's, my daughter does not want her's. He is in kindergarten also. At our school's they take picture's twice a year. The regular one and of course the one with a tree of some kind. We bought a $30.00 package but I think the price's go up to about $59.00, if you add the bonus picture's. I really want to have all his "class picture's" and a few of his picture's alone, but at these price's, who can afford them.

I always buy my daughter's pictures through school. Yes I agree that the price is much higher than it would be at WalMart.. and at WalMart you get many more for the Buck. I still buy these from school. I think it is cute how my daughter smiles when I'm not there for pictures-- It's this big fake smile and looks quite funny. I always buy the package with 1 8x10 to hang on the wall at home-- plus 5x7's and wallets. I think it usually costs $25 ish.. For Christmas I take her to WalMart and get nicer ones-- (better smiles- looks more natural)...
I look back on my school pics and laugh-- I want her to be able to do the same...
But yes they are more expensive...

I use to take my children to Walmart as I find the pictures at the school always cost way to much. I do purchase the class pictures though as these are usually pretty cheap and I like them to have mementos of when they were in school. However, now with the digital cameras, I take the pictures myself and just send them to Walmart to be developed. I find this so much cheaper plus I have the added bonus of really getting to pick the ones I like the best.

My mom always buys my pictures after the school affair because she tells me that we already paid for it and that it is required for us to buy that pictures. Those pictures are being kept by mom aside from the pictures that we ourselves took during the program.

They weren't so expensive when my kids were growing up. Now we prefer to take the kids (grandkids) to Sears. It is a lot cheaper, you can choose the pose and pick the ones you want. That works for us.

If your way is cheaper, you should keep on the way you are doing right now.
