Transfer files from xp to vista

Hey all, I just got a new laptop with the windows vista operating system. I want to transfer files from my old computer(xp) to my new vista. I have a wireless network setup, but I cannot get the computers to recognize each other. Does anyone have any advice? Or even a way to transfer files through usb. Thanks
