I use to live there. Do you speak spanish? In the greater miami are this is almost a must have. The spanish language there comes before English in, when you are approuched, the grocery stores, events, you name it. Romie06

I lived there for almost a year. I loved it. I did my culinary externship at the Biltmore hotel. I found roommates on roommates.com. It was 3 argentinian women and a columbian guy. I spoke some spanish but not much. They are now my best friends ever. To move to Miami you have to have somewhat of an open mind. It really is its on little country. You should really try to speak some spanish. Stay away from Hialeah. It is definitely not a good neighborhood. Coral Gables is the best place to live but rather expensive. Look in sweetwater too, that is a pretty nice place. Pay close attention to where you will be living because the traffic gets worse everyday. I was just there on vacation and got so agitated because I couldn't get anywhere. Anyway, good luck with the move. Let me know if you need to know anything else. My friends do still live there, I can ask them anything you need.

I'm glad you started this thread because I plan to move to south Florida this summer too. I'll be looking for a teaching job as well. If you go to Florida's Department of Education online they have a page with the contact information of recruiters. I don't know if you already have a job. Only thing I heard about Miami was that transportation sucks. You have to have a car. I don't know how true that is.
