If it is what I think you are describing, it may be what is known as prickly heat itch. I got something like that years back and I got anti histamine cream for it. It helped but it often came back. It is very irritating because the more you scratch, the more it itches. I don't know what causes it, but I suppose it could be an allergy.

Hi margie this can be one of the signs of Menopause as I experienced it for quite some time and it just went away and you cannot see anything eg. bite marks etc. Calomine lotion did relieve it for me though!

I happen to know the answer to this! :) This used to happen to me and would drive me crazy trying to figure why I couldn't find the itch! A Chiropractor told me it is because the itch isn't really coming from that spot, it is a pinched nerve somewhere else causing a transfered itch. Mine was a nerve in my back and the itch was down in my arm. Now when it happens I get an adjustment to unpinch the nerve and it goes away.

I have, and I am not sure what causes it. My guess would be that the nerve endings have gotten irritated somehow. It will be interesting to see if we get an actual medical explanation from someone else.

Are you sure it isn't an allergic reaction to something? That is what it sounds like! You could try an over-the-country allergy tablet, but be prepared to sleep! Be sure and talk to the pharmacist and tell him/her what meds you take already so there are no reactions. Many people who do not want to be sleepy by an antihistamine such as Benadryl are using Tagament for its antihistamine qualities as it doesn't cause drowsiness.

a few months ago I had a terrible itch at one spot on my scalp. I was seen by the dermatologist a few times and they gave me cortizone shots and that did not even help the itch. it turns out I had to have the bump removed and finally I got relief. phew! that itch was driving me crazy.

Yes!!! And for me, that is stress! With a capital "S"!!!
For some reason, when I am stressed, I will get that itch under the skin and scratch and scratch to the point that I will bruise myself. For some reason, it is always the front of my thigh. So, when I see I have a bruise there, I know I must be stressed about something again.
My partner will even notice sometimes because there are times the bruise is large!
And he will just ask me, "What are you so stressed about?" while pointing to the bruise. LOL

I get that itch on the bottom of my nose. It's awful. It won't stop itching sometimes and of course I don't want to scratch it because 1. it looks bad and 2. it will make it itch worse.

Well sometimes I do get that irritating itch that drives me crazy. It happens usually when I haven't been exposed to sunlight for some period of time. At first I thought it was a sun burn but then again a sun burn leaves red botches on your skin and I don't have any red botches and if I continuously expose myself to the sun, I stay fine. Really strange itch though.

Yes, and was Tide Soap. Cortizone 5 over the counter and works good. Ran out of that soap 2 weeks ago and I am still suffering. So now no perfume of any kind strictly Ivory soap and Baby Lotions. I beginning to think it might even be Polyester Sweat Suits? Any relief for you yet?
