Do any of you mamas wear your babies? I love to wear my baby. My favorite carrier is a wrap. Have any of you been to an NINO meetings? If anyone is interested in learning more there is a website TheBabyWearer.com and my name on there is Rylee'smama if any of you want to join.

I'm moving to a new city and of course signed up for the local NINO group in that city on yahoo groups! I really had a hard time wearing him at first, I've got scoliosis and a rod in my back. But I got into it again when my son decided he hates looking at peoples knees in a stroller. So I'm back in the swing of things again, he's over 30 pounds and he goes into my mei hip great. He loves talking to me when he's in it, he points at things and asks "what's that", it's a great learning experience for him.

I can't wait until my daughter talks. Whenever I get my wrap out she starts smiling.

Yes, I wear my 18 month old everyday and have been wearing him since birth. It is so rewarding for both of us!! I really couldn't imagine my life without babywearing. My favorite carrier is a Mei Tai. I really want to love wraps but I just can't seem to master them. We just got a "local" NINO chapter but it is still pretty far from me. They are looking for a coleader for my side of the water and I have thought about volunteering but I'm not sure I have the time to devote the appropriate amount to that responsiblity. I just got a Sakura Bloom ring sling and am having trouble with that as well. I don't think ring slings and I are a good match either but I'm going to try to work it out, lol.

I had trouble with wraps at first also but know I love them. My husband also wears her in the wrap sometimes and I think it is so cute.

that would be cute. The one I'm using is a mei hip, I like that it has buckles and it's very user friendly. I'm not the most graceful person and I'm always alone with my son, so I manage this one real well.

Isn't it so sweet to see your husband wear his baby!? My husband only wears our son in the Ergo now. Before we bought the Ergo he would wear ds in our Kozy mei tai (only with the black side showing). He would only wear it at home because he said the bows made it look "girly". I don't think he would ever have the patience to master wrapping although I think it would be wonderful if he did. If anyone is reading and interested in the Ergo as a dad friendly carrier here is a link - www.myfavoritebabycarrier.com .

I wore my son for the first year of his life (now I´m 7 months pregnant and it´s a lot harder), and when he´s fussy I still strap him on my back. Since I live in Guatemala, we use a "suti" which is a square of cloth folded in half diagonally. You tie the folded corners together over one shoulder and slip the baby in against your body, tucking the triangle point under his body. It´s very easy once you learn and versatile since you can move him from front to hip to back with ease.

I also love learining about other countries carriers. I will have to do some research on a "suti". Thanks for input and congratulations on your pregnancy.

GuatMom, the Suti sounds very interesting. I love learning about traditional carriers. The only thing I find that works for me when I am pregnant is using a mei tai in a high back carry. That way, my son is high on my back and the straps are tied above my chest as not to bother my bulging belly. Once my ds was getting bigger I would tie the waist straps just below my chest and only the shoulder straps above my chest. I have also seen some tie the waist straps below the bellow that would be best for a larger child. www.kozycarrier.homestead.com has good examples posted.

i am a member of thebabywearer.com and i didnt know all kinds of slings and pouches until i joined the forum. i was so excited and i purchased our first pouch which is hotsling fleece size 4 and we loved it so much we had to buy more. hotslings are our favorite so far, i will definitely try other things. i love wearing my daughter everywhere, especially where im at because they dont really know what slings and pouches are. and when i wore my daughter, they looked at me like they havent seen anything like it before. our ped loves our pouch.

I LOVE B'wearing! I have a sling obsession, honestly.....I can't stop buying them....I wear both of my babies, my 20 month old, and my 7 month old, and, recently, at the same time! I have pouches for both of them, and they love riding on mommy together. It makes quick trips into the store during naps so much easier! I love putting the baby in a wrap when we go to the park, so I can chase after the toddler, and he is safe and snug!

AP is so very uncommon where I live that I didn't get started wearing my daughter until she was already a chunky seven or eight months old - I loved the New Native Baby Carrier with her, as I didn't have to adjust anything at all. Just throw it on and go. The Walking Rock Farm Hip Carrier was lovely as well, when she was a bit bigger. I'm so looking forward to wearing my next baby more often - and since s/he is due in November, it'll have the added bonus of extra warmth. I'll definitely check out TheBabyWearer.com as I'm sure I have more to learn. I do have a wrap-style carrier (that I can't for anything remember the name of) that I need to practice using a bit before this little one arrives! :)
