Dead Cat!!

On my way home from work the other day, I saw the saddest sight. A large grey tabby cat on the side of the road--dead! This was not a side road, but a major highway with lots of traffic. WHY would someone let their pet wander outside only to have this happen?? Responsible pet owners know better. I have a 22 pound orange tabby and he is neutered and an indoor cat. He is healthy and happy. Would that same person let their two year old child play by the road? I don't think so! So why do people let their cats outdoors to be hit by a car, poisoned by chemicals, chewed up by other animals, pick up diseases, or get lost??? And the age old question--why don't people get their animals spayed and neutered?? Has anyone been to their local animal shelter lately and seen how many kittens are waiting for homes? Sadly, most won't find one. What can we do to get people to be more responsible pet owners??

Chances are it was either an outside cat or got out without the owners knowledge. My cat has gotten out without me knowing it. She's very fast. I opened the door to leave and then turned around to lock it and didn't even think she was outside when i left. When I got home I couldn't find her. I went outside and called her name and there she was under the porch. If I knew she was outside I would've chased her down and taken her back inside. I would never purposely hurt or put my 2 cats in danger. My cats arent spayed but that's because I would be happy to have little kittens in the houses. I have 2 girl cats right now and neither have been outside since I moved back in Sept. 06. I don't know what we can do to get people to be more responsible pet owners. It's hard to control people and how they take care of their animals.

I agree pebbles. That's so nice of you for paying that much attention to your pet.

I agree with you 100%. We know how unsafe the world is out there and yet many pet owners just leave the pets outdoor even in dreadful cold temperature like now! We vent against animal cruelty and noe pet owners are careless about their animals. Can we blame animal haters for taking the opportunity to harm more and more animals?
