What happened to breastfeeding???

Recent statistics have shown that nearly half of all new mothers chose to use man-made infant formula to nourish their babies instead of breastfeeding. The rate of formula usage among mothers has gone up dramatically in the past 15 years..so much so that formula makers now hold high places in the realm of financial gain annually (making nearly as much as some major Corporations like kMart!!!). Why do you think breastfeeding has become so underused? Do you believe that breastfeeding is "primitive"?With the undesputed benefits of human milk vs. formula, why do mothers still chose to skip even TRYING breastfeeding without there being a good excuse?
