I'm about to sell a whole bunch of clothes and stuff on ebay but it's now 9:15p at night on Sunday and I didn't think that by the time the auction is ending if 9p at night would be a good time for bidders to be online and bid on clothes. What days and times have you found, or would you think, that bidders would be online bidding?
I always think about people not bidding during the day because most people work like a 9-5 shift Or do you think it even matters?

You have to remember that the bidders are WORLD WIDE! When it's middle of the night for you, it's middle of the day for thousands of others. Anytime is a good time...whenever you want to do it...list away and enjoy the money. :)

This is a subject that many people ask about. Unless you conduct market research on the product you want to sell on eBay getting the answer to the question, "when is the best time to post an item?" is flying by the seat of your pants. Products have sales trend cycles. The market for a product can fluctuate up or down at certain times of the year. For instance, if you're selling winter clothing items, what would be the best time to list those items? Market research will give the answer.
Is the product a trend item, and has the trend subsided or is it still in full swing? What is the average selling price? Is the item best sold at auction or from an eBay store? Does it sell best as a 5, 7 or 10 day listing? What day and times have the best sell-through rate? What listing features are best to use?
Market research is not that difficult to conduct. You just need the right tool!
We recently looked at a particular product that we wanted to sell on eBay. We got all the information from the supplier, looked at the numbers they provided, and then conducted our market research. The research told us that we would lose money on the product. The markup that we'd have to use, just to break even, would be more that what the item was selling for on eBay. The trending data that we mined bore this out in clear detail. Without the ability to research the item in the eBay marketplace, we would have made a poor business decision to list the item!Research! Research! Research! www.fyhomestore.com
People do indeed shop during the day (9-5 shift). Internet access is available to them at work also. Again, market research will provide you with the information that you can use to identify when people are buying, and what they are willing to pay for your item and whether they are buying at auction or from eBay stores.

It's funny because people ask this all the time. There really isn't a set time. What crowd are you looking for? Stay At Home Mom's for their children? The business crowd for work clothes? The party-goes for weekend outings? Basically list the stuff when you have time. If people want it they will find it. I wouldn't end things on Friday or Saturday night. I've heard Sundays can be decent.
