A little annoyed

I am only new here but i noticed something that makes me annoyed. People are starting topics that are generally ok subjects but they do not state their opinion or even take the time to write anything there are a number of discussions that only ask the question in the title and then say tell me, also many of these only require one word answers which i think defets the purpose. Why should we take the time to respond to you if you can't even take the time to share with us. Just a thought. Many of the topics are good ones but takes some time to share your veiws as well.

Report them. This way their discussions get deleted. Hopefully if enough people report them they will get deleted from myLot.

I coudlnt have agreed more, im new here and have been posting on various topics.
Ones which have been newly started and those that have a high number of responses.
But what i find disappointing is that the one topic i started has had no replies.
I personally like responding to discussions over making innumerable unnecessary topics. But i guess some people are here just to make that extra cent.
At this rate everyone will have to start discussions. I normally visit the few friends i have and start posting in their discussions.
I like it that way. Its faster and better. It helps them too.

Yes I agree completely with what you are saying it is very annoying and I hate it when they do this I did originally have them as my friend so I could respond to their discussion but I have had to take them off my friends list as they are just wasting my time and my inbox filling it up with rubbish if you would like to be my friend then add me to your friemds list and I will respond to yours and although I do expect you also to do some of mine also.

Those are the kinds of people who post just to post. They think that the more they post the more they will get. But in fact they will earn roughly 1 cent. Where as if they take the time to write something worth reading you can earn about 3 cents for that post.
Also, if you look at those profiles some may be from a non english speaking country. So it's also possible that their english isn't exactly that great. This is of course giving the benefit of the doubt.
I usually ignore those discussions. It's frustrating yes because you have to wade through that stuff to get to the good stuff. But I suppose that could happen anywhere.

I fully agree with you. It is very frustrating. People doing that are trying to up their count. To bad once enough people complain about it they will have their post deleted which then affects anyone who replied to them!
I haven't started tons of discussions but those that I have I think I have done my best to 'share'.

Yea, non-sense topics annoy me too.. But what annoy me more are answers like 'yes, no', And some people do it in EVERY topic... I will start Negative Rating them, we all should... In mylot i guess we need some good answers and not Short ones[of course its ok to post some short ones in one or two topics, but not in all -.-]. =)

Well one word answers is against the Mylot rules so they shouldn't be asking for those cause they will be deleted when reported.
As for not giving their own position on a question, I sometimes don't do that myself. I want their honest opinions without making it a bit bias. Some are so afraid to disagree with the author due to ratings, they won't give a true response if they know how the author stands. So I may refrain from time to time, given the topic.

They are the mylot users who are here for the money-- They think that they will get more responses to their discussions-- They probably also post alot more discussions than others. I do not take the time to respond to those- Now I don't like to respond only to people who write novels in their discussions either-- but it has to have something in it-- Something to grab my attention or explain why they are asking- How do they feel? What do they want?
So I agree with you 100%-- Keep looking around- You'll find some good ones.

I don't reply to those topics, because I'm afraid that they will be deleted by Mylot later for being spammy. I think that it's really against the guidelines to post topics like that. We're supposed to be descriptive in what we post, and not post one or two word topics or replies, as far as I know. It's sad, because I have one person on my friend list who starts like 20 topics a day and most of them are like that, and I really do like that person, but I have to stay away from most of their topics because I'm too afraid that Mylot won't leave them there when cleanup time comes.

It really is against the rules. The rules say that you shouldn't post things that can be answered with only one word. Granted some things can be answered with one word but can also be expounded upon.

I know what you mean. I'm fairly new and I'm just learning how to use examples when posting a question. I'm getting better at it. I have always tried to express my question into more than one sentence.
But my sister told me a couple days ago she uses example like from an experiance she has had. So I'm trying to make mine more conversational style. A ways to go but learning.

i understand you. i was even worst than you 6 months ago. but the good thing is, i learned a lot from this site and i developed into something better.
just like your sister, i am now more into using my own experiences in starting my own discussions. it's nice to hear advices from people and know their thoughts from all over the world. it's also fun to share funny moments with others as well as the sad ones (atleast, we know that it's okey not to keep it all inside).

I totally agree with you. I think some of these people are actually only interested in how much money they earn .... it's quick and easy to type a quick sentence or two and not state their views, and the more they do that then the more they make.
I personally don't start discussions off very much for a couple of reasons. If I'm going to start a discussion up, I'd rather post all the relevant information AND state my views too, and so for that reason, I'm a little more selective about what I post as a discussion.
I too am new here, I started here just three days ago - so far I'm having the time of my life, but it gets a little tiresome when people fill pages with one line questions that require just one answer.

same with u krazy, I am a new here too.
we can imagine that someone just wanna to geet help from us but they never share there views with us, maybe they are lazy or just greed and selfish.
nomatter other people's response, we should always be ourselves, insist on what we have done.

oops. i was once guilty of this.
6 months ago, as i was starting here in mylot, i wasn't knowledgable enough on how the system works. infact, this is the first forum i had been to that time. i was so eager to start my own discussions and get responses. and yep. i did start with those annoying discussions before.
but after sometime, i learned that it's not helping the site. it's just like a waste of time for people who are searching for good discussions.
i did learn my lesson and i hope some others here will learn, too.

Sometimes, if we post our opinion when discussing a topic, we might have some kind of influence on others. This might work in two ways.
1) They read the entire post from beginning to end, & then because maybe if it REALLY makes sense, it would change their opinion to agreeing.
2) Same as 1) but they may end up disagreeing.
Either way, it might just end up with some kind of biased response.

Some people really do not have much of an opinion and really only hope that they will get a lot of in depth responses. Of course, they are defeating their purpose most of the time by not writing more. Others are afraid to do so, because they are worried about their rating. The star rating is felt to be tied to earnings by some. So they are careful not to make someone mad by letting others know what their feelings are.
I think these are some of the reasons. On occasion, I do not put my opinion in the question in order not to stop anyone from responding. However, I then let my own opinion be known in the comments that I post.
You will find all types here. Some people have more "meat" to their discussions than others.

I agree with you, I have read some posts where people complain that too little is written and others complain that too much is written and they get very bored reading too much material. I think a lot of people are afraid to write too much to have their comments ignored. It hard to please everyone. So I guess a little but not too much. What do you think? :)

I understand your feelings. this is really frustrating. I have also seen such discussions, but I don't really mind. It's just the views of people. You can't change their style of writing or posting discussions. Just simply answer to such topics if you feel like. And, if you feel you don't have much to say, don't respond.
Try to follow one thing. When you yourself start any discussion do two things:
1) Comment on the responses you are getting there, so that the responders are encouraged.
2) Choose the best response, once you get 10 responses under your discussion.
