which ACTOR has played the best GOD? DEVIL?

The best Devil I ever saw believe it or not was on the show Fantasy Island. Roddy Mcdowell played the part in a few episodes. He was fantastic in the role. I was really surprised by his performance. He gave you chills with it. The best God has to be Morgan Freeman in Bruce Almighty. He was very differnt but he made god more personable. He made him seem like one you would want in your life. I liked that. He was warm and friendly. Some just seem to severe or remote for the role.

me and my husband actually talk about this alot! i like Alanis morissette as God and Morgan Freeman. I also like the guy who played God in Bedazzled. I dont kow his name but he was a African American man with the mot beautiful eyes I have ever seen! As for the devill...jack nicolson does this relly well...maybe cuz the wa his hair is lol. I am wondering though who would make a good God or devil that has NOT played on yet? I htink alot f times when actors play them we think..oh they make a pefect god/devil..because we have seen them as that character...who else would be good as them?

If indeed you are talking best actor for evil it is no doubt Jack Nickelson. He is for a fact the scariest actor.

I'm with you on George Burns.Have you seen Jack Nicholson as the devil in The Witches Of Eastwick? He was brilliant.

I don't know which actor played God best. But in my opinion the actor that played Devil is Al Pacino is Devil's Advocate.He did not appear to be the classic image of a devil with horns and all, but his mischievous smile will tell you tha the is up to no good. Scary because if a devil looks like an ordinary human being we can never really tell him apart.

I agree with you that Al Pacino's performance in The Devil's Advocate as the Devil himself was superb! His just got this oomph in his character that will send shivers down your spine!

I would go with Alanis Morrissette's portrayal of God in "Dogma" (just thought it was funny that they went with a woman). As for the devil, I have 2 that I like Tim Curry in "Legend" (although he was just known as Darkness in that one)and Robert De Niro in "Angel Heart" (Louis Cypher...brilliant)

Trying to be open minded. I began to watch the show "Joan of Arcadia" a few years ago. I really loved the show and I was sad to see it go off the air. Did anyone else view that one? I loved when "god" wasnt a great looking clean person but someone who looked so out of the way or with lots of piercings or tattoos. I loved Bruce Almighty. At first glance NO I didnt want to see it as a Christian. Then I heard good things and my cousin brought her copy over. Well we loved it. I'd still love to own it someday. It was really great. So Morgan Freeman is my top for an "god" played. I did NOT like Dogma. I thought it was cruel and unusual punishment. I watched it cause I was curious. Everything about that movie screamed WRONG! The think the devil in Constantine was pretty freaky. But I dont recall the actor. :/

I'm actually going to have to agree with you on all three of those counts. George Burns is just absolutely hilarious! Al Pacino made a great devil. For a funny devil, Elizabeth Hurley did a good one as well (I don't remember the name of the movie). And I really liked Jim Carrey in Bruce Almighty. There was one movie I saw where Whoopi Goldberg was God, but I don't remember the name of it, just that she did a really great job as well.

My vote goes for Elizabeth Hurley in Bedazzled. It was hilarious. The devil can be devious in a sexy way, no? For God, I can not make up my mind. The voice in the clouds maybe in some movies.

the best god... hmmm i don't know. maybe morgan freeman. but the best devil is definetly gary oldman in tony scott's "beat the devil" but he's fallowed closely by the guy who played Lucifer in "constantine", but i can't remember his name right now, i think peter stormare is his name.

I personally really like Gabriel Buryne's portrayal of the Devil in "END OF DAYS" with Arnie. I think it was beautifully acted, and extremely convincing...at least up to the point where his body got all mangled and he become more like the Terminator. As for a portrayal of God...I can't say I really have one. All I know is that I was pleased with James Cavezel in "Passion..."

I know this person isn't an actor, but I always find it funny to watch the Simpsons and see Ned Flanders when they portray him as the devil. Funny seeing him in a different role than the never sinning Christian he usually is
