Should we be able to close our own discussions that we started?

I created a discussion a few minutes ago that someone kindly told me went against policy; but i did not know it until after i had posted it. I looked and could not find any sort of way to close down a discussion or to hide or delete it... so i am guessing it is not possible. Do you guys or gals think that we should be allowed to close our own topics? Would it have a positive or negative affect on MyLot if that was allowed?

If it's against policy i'm sure you'll find that the mylot police will remove it shortly for you.
There is no delete button and even if you close it by making a respsonse the best, it's still available for people to comment on anyway.
I would just ride it out and see what happens - you could contact mylot yourself about it by pressing the link at the bottom of the screen but it can take days/weeks for them to get back to you. If someone has reported it then it will be removed shortly.
Also - when you hit 100 and get awarded a star ... you might find now that it's a low number. If people rate your discussion negatively [which they may do if it's violating the guidelines] then your star number will be quite low.

Since we can't delete our posts, and I don't think we can rate our own posts, then you can't really report your own post. You can private message myLot explaining to them your error and provide them the link to the post. They will delete it for you if it has gone against the guidelines.

I agree. It would effect earnings if you delete discussions. I would like to also but many people would abuse it and cause problems. I do like the idea of hiding a discussion, but if it is not available it can not generate traffic and does not make any money. Mylot does consider these things that are said around the site, but they also consider ways it could be abused. I am happy with improvements that have been made since I have started here.

It would be nice to at least have the option to edit, but I think the whole idea of not being able to is so people don't lose their earnings because someone suddenly decides they don't like the discussion they started. I guess it just means we need to really think about a discussion before we post. And make sure it has no typos.
