My daughter has only had two bites of banana but she does love it. This is the only thing that she tried. We are going to skip the rice cereal and start on vegetables. We don't want her to start liking all of the sweet things. We are not going to do rice cereal because we believe that she does not need all of those carbohydrates. What is her favorite food?

You should look into the need for carbs in little ones. I've done low carb diets for years, so I understand wanting to avoid the carbs, but kids do benefit from a limited amount of them. They definately need the veggies, fruits and milk, despite the carbs. Some grains will also help your menu plans. They are often easier for kids to eat and digest than things like meat. We definatly limit the really sweet things that are just plain sugar. Only as an occasional treat. Also, you should consider allowing them occasionally, because they will get those things, and should know how to limit themselves and hopefully prefer to choose the healthy stuff. :-)

People, babies or adults have different tastes. Was the banana really ripe? If yes, it is sweeter. Maybe it wasn't ripe enough, and she didn't care for it. Try another time without the rice cereal in it. Not too much, it is constipating and can cause gas.

Usually all children like banana, infact when my daughter was baby she liked only banana and now that she is 22, still her favourite fruit is banana. But each one has his /her own choice. If your baby does not like banana, give her other fruits, don't force her.

DS wouldn't eat them when I first made them for him. I mashed it up really fine and mushy. He'd spit it out. But when I gave it to him in chunks, he'd love it. Even before he got teeth, he liked the chunks. Now he's 14 months and has 16 teeth, so he eats the whole thing!

It's just something new and unusual, give it time. She might've been put off by the texture, not the taste. I think it's unusual for a baby not to like bananas but then every baby is an individual and has his/her own likes and dislikes. If, after trying bananas 10 times, your daughter still doesn't like them, then you can move on and cross bananas off the list. It can take that long for a child to decide whether they like something or not.
