Last month, Cavebug Games went public with a Release Candidate of our first casual game, Pathstorm. Today, we have posted our third (and hopefully final) Release Candidate. If any of you have time for feedback, we'd love to hear it. We're very interested in identifying any remaining gameplay issues, testing against a wider variety of hardware, and making sure the Demo has enough "hook". Pathstorm is a Windows only title at the moment, although the Mac OS X port is operational but not completely finished. We have tested against a low end PIII 733, Intel on-board graphics, DirectX 7, and Windows 98. We think we can go lower on our system requirements, but we don't have any lower end machines at our disposal. F3 toggles the frame rate display on and off. On some machines, hardware acceleration is not automatically detected and has to be forced on with Shift+F8. (EnumTextureFormats() provides garbage in its callbacks on a laptop I have here, although hardware acceleration works fine on the machine. Weird.)

Wow, very nice! Good polish, good gameplay, nice theming. Love the sparkly graphical effects. I think I played a similiar game on OS/2 once, years ago... but this version is better. I thought the "find the exit" levels were pretty boring, but they weren't too hard to plough through. It would be nice to be able to skip them. Speaking of skipping, I started out on the beginner trail first. Once I'd completed the demo part of that, I went to the intermediate trail, and now it's giving me all the tutorials again. Slightly annoying, but at least they're skippable. Overall, nice work!
