I am right handed but certian tasks I do better with my left hand. It sounds strange but that is the way it is for me. I have tried to write left handed and it doesn't look so good.

I am a right handed person too and like you I've also tried writing on the left side unfortunately not very successful as well. I tried to do everything from practicing writing the alphabet and just drawing using my left hand and even that was useless. However unlike you I'm much better doing everything right handed and I seldom use my left except for some easy task even that was not easy

You mean you can write with both hands thats quite unique actually but how good is your handwriting when you use your left hand? I've tried writing on the left side and unfortunately my left hand does not respond as quickly as my right hand and my handwriting resembles that of a 5 year old maybe even worser unless that 5 year old was left handed then that would excuse him. Are you from india cause if you are and I just found out about this I don't know if its true or not 1 of your famous bollywood actors his name is Amitabh Bachan is left handed cause I don't know about the other actors.

I'm mostly right handed when I write or sew, but for many other tasks I'm ambidextrous. I had to have my right hand in a cast for a few months and had to write left handed, as well as do everything left handed. I found out then that I could write almost as well with the left as with the right. My Dad was right handed, then lost his right arm in an accident. After retraining he was just as good at everything with his left hand as he was with his right. Even his signature and writing looked the same as when he did it with his right hand. I think a lot of times it's what you get used to having to do with your other hand, even though you've been born to be predominently one way.

I was a junior in high school when I first found I had to write left handed. It was out of necessity that I had to learn it because my right hand was in a cast for about 6 months, with another few months of therapy so I could use it again. What happened was it was winter and I slipped on the ice on the back step and fell forwards into the glass door, then I fell backwards and cut it some more. I almost cut my hand off at the wrist and had to have a bunch of surgery to fix it. I either had to learn to write with the left, or get really really far behind in school. Once I started doing it I found it was almost as easy as right handed. Surprised me too lol. I still use both hands when doing projects. Hints? Lessee...you have to aim your paper different so you can do it. Try and put a mirror on your desk and place the paper the same way as the image, that helps some to get the right angle. I think almost anybody can do it if they try repeatedly. Go slow at first, and pretty soon it gets a whole lot easier. It might be helpful to practice with a gel type pen, or thin line marker, because it doesn't drag as much on the paper and makes for more fluid movements.

How long did it take for you to writing mobilization using your left hand? A few days or a week or 2 weeks? You say that anybody can do it, well in your case you had to learn it out of necessity because you encounter a very serious accident. In my case I'm learning to do this cause I would like to be able to do something different and writing left handed is something new. I don't practice writing left handed everyday I just do it out of boredom when I have nothing to do and another thing I have a short attention span and I get frustrated and bored easily. Try writing at a different angle and used a mirror you say, I'll give it a try and I'll also try using those other hints you told me. Can I ask something else do you believe a left handed people are more creative or have a much better outlook on life?

So that means you can write with both hands now thats amazing and unique. I also have a friend who can write with both hands and like you he had to have his right hand in a cast as he sustained injuries from an accident and since he was right handed he had to learn not just to write but do everything using his left hand for 1 month. He now has excellent mobility with both hands but he still prefers to use his right hand when writing. How long did it take for you to get accustomed writing using your left hand? Did it require a lot of practice and was it long for you to master the art of left handed writing? I'm a right handed person myself and almost fully depended on it but I also do some task using my left hand just not writing. I've tried practicing writing on the left side and well you could say my handwriting could be compared to that of a 5 year old. I've tried almost everything, I tried learning to write using my left hand from watching tv documentaries on left handism but I'm still hopeless. You do know that america's new president elect Barack Obama is a left handed person and hes been named Left Handed Person of the Year Award by an organization supporting left handed people. Do you know if I could write using my left hand and can you give me any useful tips?

Don't try to work with left hand when you are a right handed person this painful for your brain and get tired by that. This right or left handed ness is genetic and is related to the brain development and hence I suggest you to be cool and relax with whatever the way you are. Use your left hand only when you need to work with two hands, till then let your left hand rest & relax. I am right handed and love to be, this makes me a common man & not a odd-man-out.

i am left handed. and i love it! lol it makes me just a different i guess. but my right hand is stronger, so i use it to open bottles etc. which i think is backwards..you'd think that since im left handed i would be doing more with that hand and it would be stronger..but its the exact opposite. weird. lol

Join the club I'm a right handed person too and I'm dependent on it almost 100%. Like you I've tried writing using my left hand and I also fail miserably. It is hard to write with your left hand when you're a right handed person, I practiced writing just some letters from the alphabet to writing simple words and I still cannot do it. My left hand responds slower and clumsier when I try writing or doing anything else left handed. I guess you really have to be born left handed to be able to do it, my mother however is left handed. She writes with her left hand but does other activities using her right hand like using the scissors or cutting meat using a meat cleaver. She says her right hand is much stronger when she uses the scissor but is more comfortable writing using her left hand. Like me my mother also tried writing using her right hand but it prove just as hard as right handed person trying to write using the left hand. My youngest sister is also left handed obviously she inherited this from my mother but she depends almost 100% using her left hand she also plays tennis left handed which is quite an advantage to her. I inherited my right handedness from my father and so does my younger brother. Don't feel bad if you can't write left handed, it doesn't make you any less special. Now maybe like me and I'm just saying this you think left handed people are more unique and more special but thats not true. I still think that left handed people somehow are more different that right handed people cause they just do things the opposite way but either left or right we're almost all the same just we're born with our own uniqueness and gifts. But try anyway writing using your left hand, try doing other tasks using your left hand for 1 month and see how it goes. You perform other tasks using your left hand 1st then try writing using your left hand ok.
