Would you leave it to your parents or the relgious priest or soemone-else to decide and finalise your wedding date and time?
In one of the interviews, Abhishek Bachan did mention that he would leave it to his father to decide his wedding date. I was surprised and failed to understand, whether it was a publicity stunt or a father's control or something else?
In my case, my wedding date was decided by me, in consulatation with my wife-to-be, my parents, in-laws and all those who were dear to me.
How about you?

I am from a Hindu Family, and hindus normally has a calender which they follow to fix Marriage dates. SO in my case, it was decided by my father in consultation with me and my In laws. It is very normal process in India.

i got married last year, and since my brother is living in tashkent (uzbekistan) and had to come to India within 3 months, mine marriage date was fixed accordingly, it was my family members and in-laws who had decided the date.

Well since Ill only be marrying my spouse and noone else the decision on when wnd where to get married will also be made by only the two of us. I will tell the near and dear ones in advance about our decision so that they can ensure that they get leave and are free during that time but other than that I will not expect or for that matter like anyone else deciding when I get married.
