Yes follow doctors recommedations, but eveyone is diffrent with recovery. Depending on what the doctor finds, it should not take long. My brother had that done and they removed the knee cap and he was up and going in about 2 weeks. Just depends on what happens during the surgery and you. To heal faster, the secret is protien. Protien helps heal the body and so increase your protien intake to heal the body faster.

It really depends on what they find when they are in there. I have had this done a few times before and the healing times varied. It they look around and find minimal damage you could be fine in a week. If there are serious issues and they need to cut you open then you are looking a months to fully heal. Do they have and ideas on what is wrong? Floating cartilage, torn ligament?

How soon are you expected to have to travel?
Right after the surgey you will have to keep the leg elevated and rest (about 5 days or so). You will have to use a crutch or a walker since you will not be able to put your full wieght on the injured leg. Full recovery is about 6-8 weeks depending on the injury.
Since only you you and your doctor know the full extent of your injury, you should ask him what he expects the recovery time to be.

No it will not take long to recover. But you will have to follow the Doctors advice. I was walking around pretty good after three weeks.
