I noticed there are some mylot users who have a red star on top of their usernames and would have numbers like 7,9,6, etc..how do I get it? I'm practically new here and I wonder if it's based on how many have rated your post?

Hi! You get a star on your 100th post. The color of the star differs depends on the number that you get, it is the reputaion you have earned here at mylot, the higher the number the better, 10 being the highest. And as time goes by your number and color changes depends on the quality of your posts. Goodluck and keep on posting and see your star next to your name very soon!

Stars speak of your reputation in the mylot community. Users will rate your postings and responses based on their opinion of them. Generally, good responses result to a positive rating thus increasing the number in your star. It is from 1 to 10. Later on you will notice that ratings will fluctuate and will make you ask yourself, why? As far as you are concerned, you have been objective enough in your responses why did some users rate you negatively.
Anyway, you are nearly half way through in reaching a star. You need to reach the 100 figure after your name.
Keep on posting quality discussions and get into the full swing of things here in mylot. You'll surely enjoy it.
Happy mylotting. Cheers.

Thanks for the response. Now, that clarifies how those numbers are being put inside the star. I really appreciate you sharing it to me.
