Biologically, every single human being is actually unique -- even homozygotous twins! Individuality in terms of personality is not so clear, however, as many are trying to follow a group, whichever it may be, and 'blend in the crowd' while claiming to be unique. This is where it becomes a bit of a paradox. ;)

If mortality was not a certainty then would God have run out of unique gene sequencing at some point? I hope not because he is the creator after all and perhaps would device a further smaller unit to a gene to solve the problem but that's not the point here.Even overlooking our biological individuality no two minds can think or no two hearts can feel exactly similarly about every topic under the sun. That way probably ,we are still unique even though we continue to seek like minded individuals.Again a paradox.

Yes it is a further paradox! This topic has certainly taken an interesting path! My intention was to point out the inconsistencies in the statement itself! Our uniqueness making us just like everyone else who is also unique; therefore a contradiction of terms..... Thanks for responding.

It really is amusing. How can you be unique and yet like the other billions of individuals on the earth? There's definitely an ambiguity in this one.
True we are unique individuals but how come we almost always long for companionship WITH the same interests?
Why do we hang out with people who are like-minded in one way or another?

"Dangling clause!" this is an interesting way to put things! Congrats on the wedding by the way. I have yet to read your latest posts that may let us know how it all went but I am hoping that any dramas were kept at a minimum and that it all worked out great!

I would suggest that it is dangling clause or something. It makes the sentence ambiguous yet many people unconsciously say or use this and no one seems to care about the paradox in it. I guess it's just a chosen few who thinks so much of grammars and the likes who will notice it.

No one can me JUST like me. They might look similar or share similar interests but they cannot have the same feelings and emotions as I do because they have not had the same life experiences. No one else can experience the exact same joy and pain as another person. It's those experiences which make even identical twins different from one another!

It is an interesting topic. The paradox also is that we all have exactly the same feelings and emotions. Have to disagree with the previous statement. What sets us a part is our standpoint within the feelings and emotions.
I think it's primarily caused by our sense of being separate individuals, yet we yearn not to be. The yearning is more intense than acknowledged, hence someone will say "You could never understand what I am feeling". Yet someone else can be having the same intensity of the same emotion and say the same thing.
Then there is genetics - no two people are ever the same.
Psychological traits. You can read the same traits in a room full of people, yet the trait will be acted out differently, giving uniqueness.

Genetics, psychological traits, feelings, beliefs..... All unique to each and every one of us in some way or another, yes. Which is why I find the statement I posted amusing! Our individuality and our uniqueness groups us with everybody else on the planet!! Thanks for responding.

People are all the same. Sure there are some things that set you apart, but I'm not going to make anyone believe that they are the ONLY 5'4" person with blonde hair and blue eyes who likes to watch horror movies and go fishing. Of the billions of people in the world, there is someone JUST like you out there... there's no denying it.
