their last four matches make me think so they can"t even defend a 336 having put new zealand under pressure early in their innings ....is their form really going down ......i havent seen this before ...even if they lose one series they come back in the next.........even without the top players like ponting gilchrist and lee they have not been beaten before ....is this a really good sign for the other teams in the world cup???or will the aussies bounce back like a wounded tiger ?????post your views and let us hve a very long discussion about this

Never underestimate the aussies. They did not play with full strength that was the reason they got defeated. But in the world cup they can really be devastating for the opposite team. In cricket what is gone is gone that is if you are defeated then dont look back at it just march forward and Oz's do the same. But yes,South Africa and Newzealand pose a good challenge to australia in the world cup. Not to forget India who sometimes can be very dangerous.

Yeah there has been slump in the form of aussies as aussie team is undergoing transformation as some of players have retired or injured. But more imp. i feel other top sides are playing better and have closed the gap with aussies and other top teams now really believe that they can beat ausies if they play to tehir potential. As teams have analysed & identified faults in aussies game and they are now exploiting it.
It is very good news for indian team as now indian team has real chance to win the world cup. But one can't write off aussies they are going to come back hard as their pride is hurt and they always geared up for major tournaments like world cup.

Don't write them off. Auatralia is a great sporting nation and will give 100% at the world cup. I'm putting my money on them.

well to be frank Aussies are now completely out of fire that would win matches.
so i think they have nearly achived all targets and finding it difficult to survive at the top.
because they ar great attackers not defenders.
so they are unable to defend their rank 1 in odi.

I dont think they are going down the hill.. its very early to judge that.. they have been performing superbly over the last decade and we cannot judge them only on the basis of their performance in the last couple of series.Dont forget that they are playing without their main players Ponting, Gilchrist and Lee.
They will come back strongly in the world cup and still are the favourites to win the cup accordng to me...

It's really too early to write off the Aussies. Don't forget that they have been holding on to the spot of the top one-day side for two straight years now, and that itself is an incredible feat. In spite of being hit by injuries to key players and retirements of senior players, they are one side that just keep going on and on. However, they have had trouble with New Zealand in the past, and that too with Shane Bond in particular, and he has been the chief wrecker of the Aussie campaign this time around.
Hit by several injuries, the Aussies were fielding a side good enough to get away with most other teams, but Shane Bond had other ideas. This shocking setback to the Australians is just a blip. They are bound to strike back. They will come back stronger and prove that it was not fluke or luck that kept them at the pinnacle of One Day Cricket for as long a period as two years. Go Aussies go!
