The most important thing... Validate your websites and stop using tables to markup the code. Tables are NOT for designing. They are for tabled data, so Search Engines get stuck on tables. If you validate and code properly, the search engines will better navigate your website. Alt and title attributes should always be used on link and image tags. Lots and lots of unique content, always update the site, and get good, worthy links coming to and from your website.

What do you mean specifically by 'validating'? Links are definitely the way to go, but actually getting them is a bit tricky (except for directories). Do you have a strategy for this? Your advice is very sound, Thank you...
