General discussion or topic discussion

I am wondering which is the best way to post a discussion. Should I be posting it to a general or topic discussion? How would more people be exposed to a specific topic of conversation? Such as if I wanted to discuss Grey's Anatomy the TV series, would I post it on TV shows?

I think that the best way to get more coverage is to put it in the interest. Personally, I browse "new discussions," but I know that other people don't. If you're going to make a discussion about Grey's Anatomy, put it in Grey's Anatomy interest group.

How exactly to you get an interest group? Does it ask after you post a discussion?
