Why do I get canker sores? What are they caused by? What are the home remedies that can help? Any OTC products I can buy? I always see products advertised on tv for cold sores but never for canker sores! Will these products work for canker sores too?

Ouch, canker sores hurt! I think they are caused by stress, poor nutrition, and food allergies. There may be more triggers, but those are the ones I know of.
I am not sure about a cure, but for pain and irritation relief you could mix equal amounts of Milk of Magnesia and Benadryl Allergy liquid (1 teaspoon) to swish around in your mouth for about a minute (then spit it out). Try doing this 4 to 6 times a day.
Also putting a wet black teag bag on the sore may reduce the pain.
I have heard that taking vitamin C or B complex helps heal them faster. Also swishing(then spit out) with a mixture of salt and warm water may help.
An over the counter medicine is Carbamide peroxide
Prescription medicines include Aphthasol (anti-inflammatory)
If you get them very often, or if they are very large and last a long time, you should see your doctor.
I hope this helps!
