How do I avoid getting divorced? Any advice from those who've been there?

I'm dating a great guy right now and we're talking of getting married next year. I've unfortunately been discouraged from so many divorce stories in the media and in my family and want to avoid it at all cost. Have you been divorced before? what advice would you give those to be married about it? Please help.

I am not divorced, but I am separated from my husband. My best advice to you is make sure you can talk to your boyfriend about anything! I think the biggest failure in marriages is the lack of communication. Of course, there are certainly other factors that can affect the relationship, however I think if you can talk about anything, then at least you can also work towards a solution for a problem. Good luck, please don't let others deter you from making your decision.
