I think you can still pursue your dream, but the time doesn't call for it yet. Count your blessings, at least you still have a chance at that other department. It's really difficult if we couldn't be able to get what we have wished for. This has happened to many people, including me! I just went along with the tide for a while, and later on I forgot about the previous dream, as I've encountered many things in my life and discovered myself along the process. Now, I'm satisfied with what I'm doing, and although I could still accomplish what I'd been dreaming of before, I have resolved myself that it's not really what I wanted all along. Well, it worked for me. Hope it works with you. Life is a learning experience.
