What do you do with members that put up multiple questions in a row?

I find that myLot is getting a lot more people that just come in and leave question after question that is just useless and to the point of spamming. What do you do? 1. Complain about them like me? 2. Give them a negative click without leaving a response? 3. Report them as spammers? 4. Do nothing and just move on? I have a hard time with them and maybe I should just ignore and if everyone ignores them maybe they will stop. But if I report them maybe they will get a warning that will help them to stop.

I just move on. Unless they are repeating the same exact question over and over, they are not really breaking any rule. It is annoying though, but I just ignore and go on with myself. Besides, many are just wanting to make a lot of posts and they don't mind answering to them. Me, I like posting to things that are interesting.

Yeah, I have to get over the fact that I find it so annoying. Maybe I will just look with one eye. :) thanks for your comments.

I try to ignore them. I remember the day before yesterday I opened a page and the entire page was taken up with questions by just one member, save for one at the bottom. I find it annoying because most of us enjoy discussions and responding to discussions, but when a page is filled with utter crap, it becomes tedious. I just don't respond to them.. That way, they're not earning money through my hard work for typing stupid questions about nothing.

I have to start meditating I guess. :) And then maybe I can just ignore those posts.

It used to merely annoy me but now it really ticks me off. If it is obvious spamming and the discussions started are in violation of myLot rules I will report it. I refuse to spend my time giving millions of - to bad discussions. I occasionally give a - to someone who has made a bad post in a discussion I am replying to though. Mylot has to get a grip on these spammers before they ruin this site.

I just tend to ignore them and move on. I find that I have one user on my friend list who does this sometimes, but who also posts truly good posts at other times, and I would hate to lose even one person off of my list who posts things that I enjoy replying to. I wish that that person understood taht most of their topics will probably be deleted for being spammy when Mylot cleans up, though. I guess that I should talk to that person, but it worries me that they might get upset with me, and I'm not a confrontational type. To me, it's just easier to let it go and move on.

Well when I first started on this site that's exactly what I did, but every topics I started had a point to them I was just trying to find out how this site worked. I get really frustrated with the people that do leave pointless discussions expecially when they are one after anouther.

Oh yeah and I forgot to say all I do is ignore them unless they are really offensive.

I have seen a few instances of this lately and it is very annoying. One member keeps posting useless questions in the computer category so that the first couple of pages are by the same person, which is definitely spamming in my opinion. I have tried rating a negative and have reported it, but to no avail.

I can't see the purpose in posting topics one after the other, and I am sure that some of them never bother to read or rate the responses. I have one of those on my friends list and now I don't bother responding to her topics. I always check to see if she is commenting and rating the responses and she doesn't seem to be bothered, so why respond. I don't report or rate them, I just move on to the next topic.

If I were to make a list of discussion I think I would try to give a few minutes between them so that it at least doesn't seem so much like spamming. Well I guess I am going to try and avoid those posts. I will have to just meditate more. :) thanks for your response.

I really don't care because there are so many members here that do that, so I just don't pay attention to it anymore. It will be very difficult to kick them all, but if we all report them, maybe one day there won't be such problems in the future. But I doubt it.

I was just reading the post before yours and it made sense. The more we report them the more that show up so it may just be best to close my eyes and just pass them by.

I hate it especially when I go to discussions with no responses and their are pages and pages from the same person. I have reported 2 of them. One was banned from mylot for uploading jokes by some sort of spammer devise. In less than 12 hours of joining he had uploaded 1,000 jokes in 1 minute intervals. The other is at it again, I just went to discussions with no responses and they are uploading one after the other. I don't respond to members that do that and have 3 people in my friends list that notifier isn't on anymore because of that. Most of the discussions from these members are all the same types of dicussions just a different angle on it or reworded. Rant, rant, rant. Maybe they will seem themselves in posts like this and STOP!!!! :) Wishful thinking.

I doubt they will stop but they may leave and try it elsewhere and of course those that leave are replaced so we will most likely still see them. But I am getting better at ignoring them.

It bothers me so much when people post so many discussions in a topic that the whole page is covered with that user...and you can't see anything that might actually be interesting. I think we should form an unofficial coalition to report them when we see it happening- the more reports, the more incentive for them to quit.

You really have it right. As fast as those type of spammers leave new ones appears so it would be an endless circle of frustration. Good point.

It depends on what the post is, I cannot say that I would not report someone for excessive posting, it is really not fair to clog up categories with useless postings that we all have to sift through to find anything worth responding to. I have only been here for a week but I can see that like all sites, there are genuine people out there to give responses and post quality discussion, then there are those that are here to pinch pennies. Well to the penny pinchers I say you need a real job, posting here should not be a job for anyone, and to the people who are real, well I will be searching through the other discussions and hopefully I will happen on yours.

I wouldn't have a problem with multiple posts if they were good discussions but most of them just look like it was a race to see how fast one can get many posts listed in a row. :) If I could type fast enough to do this and still start great discussions I still wouldn't do it because it looks so much like spamming. I would try to let a few others post between each of mine. I like to just have fun and I realize that to many the money they make here is all they make. I don't want to sound heartless to them. But I do like good discussions.

Truely. I just joined MyLot and find that most of the stuff on here is garbage. Seems that no one monitors what is worthy of discussion and what is not. How many times do we have to see junk, such as "It hurts when I go to the bathroom, what should I do?" Duh, see a doctor! I have tried to start discussions on fairly meaningful topics (of course, that is my opinion). I guess we just bypass the things we do not deem meaningful.

Hi there new comer and welcome. I have found lots of great discussions, it's just a pain scrolling past so many spammy ones to get to the good ones. I have seen myLot admin remove posts and discussions but they can seem slow to do it. Perhaps it's because there is so much for them to go through. That is why I report them, so myLot doesn't have to wade through so much to find them.

It doesn't bother me, because I figure that's their time to post their questions. Sometimes you come up with some and sometimes you don't. I know a couple people that write down their discussion questions and only post when they've accumulated 10. So, from my view, I read through them and if I want to respond I do, if not then I delete the email notification and go to the next one. The only time I've reported someone was if the discussion was repulsive, just completely unappropriate, or someone soliciting to get-rich-quick scams. REMEMBER: What seems Useless to one person, may actually be helpful, humorous, or important to someone else. :) Gotta Love it!

I certainly agree that what I feel is an important or useful post is not what another may consider useful. I am trying to keep from getting stressed when I see them. :)

I don't pay attention to them. If it is something that I care to answer then I do. Otherwise I just move along. You should not let it concern you, do what you feel is best and then move on to the next thing. You will always find people that are not doing things by the rules or are using their own methods. Good luck.

To be honest, I find that I just ignore them now. The stupid one liners, the constant barrage of idiotic pseudo questions, some of them appear to be kids homework questions for goodness sake. It does annoy me though, as I am here to enjoy discussions, not trawl through a sea of rubbish.

I ignore them completely. They're usually putting up discussions that don't lead anywhere or are the sme subject expressed slightly differently, or they're out and out spam.

Its not really your place to judge other peoples' questions and their motives for posting those questions. It may be annoying to see a long list of questions from the same poster but to each his own. Personally, I just ignore them and enjoy the community for what it is. They don't "ruin" MyLot for me. There are plenty of people on here who use the community to have real questions answered and try to start interesting discussions. I know because I have asked a lot of questions just to hear what people think about certain topics, sometimes they go unanswered and sometimes they spark nice discussions.

Well hello there Newbie, welcome to myLot. I would say we are the judge in a way, that is why we have the postive and negative rating, along with the abuse button. MyLot has these so we can help them judge the content. I do try to ignore them and I have been getting better. :) thanks for your response. I like it when 'not everyone' agrees but really have an opinion of there own.

I just joined this today and I have actually noticed that a lot. I was wondering why there were so many, to put it bluntly, stupid topics. I also kind of don't like the layout of this discussion board. It is rather difficult to navigate and I am an 'experienced internet user.'
