I am going to open a brand new website or rather I should say a portal. But I am a bit of confused about my design since I'm not a good web designer.I think I can hide my lack in design with hot and worthy content.Do you think it works?Or should I really take another look at my design and think again about something new?

A nice combination of both would be best. Just make sure that your site is tidy and easy to navigate. It really doesn't have to be very flashy. If you do that, and the content is good then you'll be doing just fine.

I personally feel that content is worth a lot more than design. A few months ago, I decided to start a blog. I used a free blog that has classic templates. I found one I liked then just started to blog. I have had a lot of people come in and visit my blog and the most comments I have recieved about it has been about the content. If you post a lot and have good things to say, then you will keep your readers coming back for more.

Thanks for your response sir.I also agree with you that we should take the content with a bit more care.Your visitors would not mind with your poor design if your site provide some quality content.

You may say design is everything but content can't be ignored.A visitor come to your site for content. not for your design. Thanks for your response anyway.

I agree that content is also important, but it's not what hooks most people. If your content is fabulous, but your site design is ugly and difficult to navigate, your content will likely never be seen. Design is the hook. Content just keeps them coming back.

i have a great suggestion for you. it's called 50megs.com
if you dont kno html very well you can use their templates but edit each page. each page is a file.
my page is my artist page
http://www.lilstripe.i8.com
you can buy a domain for a very cheap price. mine has alot of adds.
you can get rid of them. 50megs is not like freewebs.
when you pay for 50megs you will not see the freewebsite adds and stuff. i can't pay for it right now but if ur considering a new website, use 50 megs. it's cheap, and very professional.

Both are important. If you have many content, but bad design it would be hard to find the needed info. Also users will be bored with the site. If the site has a good design, but no content it will be popular for a small ammount of time and will be forgoten by anyone. So there should be both.

Both Design and the content should go hand in hand. Your website can be perfect without good content. You can learn designing easily and quickly. But you have to organize your contents properly before you could figure out your design. Design should come after you have planned the content.
Thanks. ( just my opinion) :P
