Commision or Base Salary??

What is the best way to go for the long term?

I prefer a base salary to a commision salary. To me it is important to have control over the economy. I think it's easier to buget having a fixed income. I guess you can be lucky, or very good, and make a lot of money on commision. I would not trade this with the security of a fixed salary.

i'd always prefer base salary compared to commission salary ... no doubts... age takes toll on your ability ... in addition you dont always want to work that much harder to earn every single penny of it sid

for a long term id prefer to go with a basic salary only because if your earnings are on commision you may not earn much, my partner used to have a job based on commission and all he earned was around 20 pounds for a weeks work, that's why i choose salary! :o)

Commission is better for long term becuase there is no limit as for how far you can you achieve! If you believe that you are the best in your field - commission is the way to go.
