This is something I need to work on, too. I have a terrible time with photos.
My advice would be to just relax. And in my opinion, candid photos always turn out much nicer than posed photos. It's amazing how radiant and natural we look when we arent trying...know what I mean?
Just have a friend or family member tote a camera around at the park or just out in the world. Have them randomly snap photos when you are walking, talking or especially laughing! Laughter creates the most beautiful genuine smiles!

First, if you are worried about your photo here, I think you look great. The best photographs are taken with a combination of good lighting and most importantly the person that is being photographed must not feel that they are being photographed. The natural facial expressions and body movements are far greater than any posed picture.

Being photogenic is something born with. You cant do something to become photogenic. It depends on the facial features of a person.Maybe makeup can play a part in it.

If you are getting photographed, your clothes will have a lot of impact. Wear a color that looks good on you. Don't wear a print.. better to stick to a solid color. You don't want any ribbons, buttons, furry collars, etc. distracting from YOU, the subject.

Well I don't think I am photogenic but sometimes I find a pose that suits me and go with it. For example to me it sometimes helps to be taken from the from with some of my hair on the one side a bit down on my face and I'm looking slightly upwards.... But the thing is everyone has poses and positions that suits them better. You should try by striking some poses and have a friend or your pc take photos every so often, like that you can analyze them and see what suits you best, try with your hair up your hair down some in front of you face, tied up, looking up looking straight into the camera looking away...

Just be yourself. Don't try to make your look, think about something nice, but don't make fake your look.

I could only add to the comments above, that you shouldn't 'pose' for pictures.
I'm only too aware of the fact that I have 'a face for radio' and hate being photographed. I've found over the years that anything that's too 'put on' looks terrible. It's normally best to look slightly away from the camera (like at the photographers elbow) and smile only slightly, so it doesn't look exaggerated.
