I'm taking a class in media and we've been discussing the decline of newspaper readership. So does anyone still read newspapers on a daily basis? Do you just read your local papers or a national paper like the New York Times or USA Today?
I myself read the local paper about 3 times a week and read USA Today about 2 times a week. I wish I could read them every day, but I don't find that I have enough time to do so. What about everyone else?

Yeah it seems that a lot of people like to read the news on the Internet lately. I love to do that sometimes myself, its easier than picking up a paper. :)

I read the local paper every day. It's just something I do while eating breakfast. Then on the weekends, I usually pick up USA. I would really like to read the New York Times, and Washington Post more, but it's a special trip to the news agency for them.

I no longer read the newspaper, I just pick up my news online now. Once in a while I will watch the news on TV. My mother now, she reads the newspaper every single morning. Her day does NOT get to get underway until she has her two cups of coffee, her piece of toast with a tiny spoonful of peanut butter on it and reading her newspaper as she sits in her recliner with her tiny dog on her lap. It's a ritual that she has followed as long as I can remember and I am 45 now. She and dad also watch the news on TV every single day, sometimes more than once a day. They are very caught up on their current events.

I always thought that a ritual like that seemed like a nice idea, but I've never managed to start one myself. If only I could drink coffee maybe I'd be able too. :)

I still enjoy reading a daily newspaper and our local newspaper too. You can get more enjoyment, entertainment, news and information from a newspaper than from the internet too. I even enjoy doing the crosswords in the paper, and make time in the day to read the news.

I read the paper everyday, i get it delivered to my door and its the first thing i do when i wake up in the morning, i have a coffee and read the paper. I so use other mediums to get the latest news like online and radio but nothing beats the paper

I wish I could do that, but I can't drag myself out of bed to get the paper. :)

In our office we have daily delivery of nespaper. We have local and national newspaper. Even if i dont like to read, i am tempted to read because the delivery boy always give the newspaper to me. But i realize that reading the newspaper can help you update on the current events on your own country and most of all it could improve your reading and speaking ability. I can say that newspaper is still the best tool in enhancing one's self. It can improve you in many ways.

Does reading it online count? I only read the local paper on Sundays in hard copy. But every day I read the online version of the local papers and the last 2 cities I have lived in.

Yeah reading online does count and a lot of people are doing that more often. Although one point that is made in my class is that people are moving away from print and going online. It just shows how technology is affecting even the way we get our news.

I read my town's newspaper pretty much every day, sometimes a little less maybe. I'm not really that interested in reading news anyway. I only read it out of pure boredom.

I read the county paper on a daily basis and the town paper whenever I remember to pick it up at the store. Town paper is only a weekly paper and is small. Once in a while, I'll read the county paper at my mom's house in which she lives in a different county.

Beleive it or not, I feel myself amiss, without news paper. In fact, unless the newspaper articles/stories are not read, i cannot beleive the things happened. purely may be of mental satisfaction, but nothing to hide about.
The story/feature of the para glider, who was taken 30000 ft high by a hailstorm, is somehow digested, although it is fact that she has been taken away, while in practice of para gliding, in Australia, while one of her fellow succumbed to the injuries. Full credit goes to the news paper which brought to the notice such type of fiction, I must say.

My mother reads the obits, the comics and the front section every day. Because of a bad experience with the PAPER in newspaper (someone not recycling it!) I refuse to have it delivered to my house ever again. But when I'm with my mother, I will read abby & the comics, maybe glance at the front section.

Yeah I know what you mean. One reason that I don't like to get the paper at my house is because it probably won't get recycled and I don't like to waste paper.

I honestly can't remember the last time I looked at a newspaper. For the most part, I don't even listen to the news (except occasionally in the mornings when I turn the radio on, but even then I'm rather busy getting the kids ready for school). I've found in recent years the news just gets more and more depressing every day and it's really not the way I want to start my day off.
