Well I have noticed that day by day, more and more families do not have dinner together even if they do have time for it. Well as for me, my job timings do not allow me to have dinner with my family. So how about you and your family? Do you all have dinner together at the table?

I am afraid i have the similar problem that you have and that is my working hours are very late in the night, by the time i reach home its mostly around 11:30 pm, all of my family members have had their dinner by then and i mostly microwave what ever is left for me :( but on sundays we make it a point as every body is home to have breakfast, lunch and dinner together on the same table!

Hi, I am a teacher so i have regular working hours. My husband on the other hand is an engineer so he works on shift. I have lunch with my 1st son daily. As for dinner, it will be with both my sons. My husband joins us for all the times that his work shift allows. It is part of the whole bonding process. Especially when the child is young. I believe it is important to have meals with the family but with a rigid working schedule and both parents working late is the norm, who can blame the decline in family dinners.

Indeed a busy shedule does throw a monkey in a wrench at dinner time. Thanks for answering this discussion.

Hey that is really good waiting up for one another. I have seen less families following this but ofcourse I do not blame them, I mean common I would never want my family to wait for me for 3 hours past dinner time.

My husband always works away from home. I held a job also where I used to work overtime. That leaves my kids taking breakfast, lunch and dinner on their own. Now that I am staying home, the habit of one eating at his own comfortable time cannot be shaken. We hardly take meals together at home. Dining together happens always when we all go out for breaks at the mall or someplace else outdoors.

There is a big problem with this situation at my family. We are the kind of family that we like eat all together at the table. The last 2 years my husband open him business so now work 12 hour at the day and all the week. When he came home my son is sleeping when my son weak up for school my husband is sleeping this time so we have very little opportunities to sit and eat all together 1-2 dinner and 1-2 breakfast at the week. But when w have the time we never don't eat apart.

I try very hard to get the family at the dinner table at least twice a week. It is hard though as my 2 young adult kids, whom live here, are busy with their lives now and work. But, on their days off, we try and all eat together. We are a close family and that time is still very important to us.

My husband works night so he isn't home during the week for dinner but me and my kids do eat together at the table. It makes me feel good to sit down with them and eat, like setting a good example. To me it is special time with my kids where they are not running around acting crazy =)
