Dogs do have stress and tensions about issues. Sometimes some are more senstive to noise than others. Some it is abandoment issues. Many dogs will become stressed if they spend to much time on their own. If a dog and likely a pound dog will have the abandonment issue. I have one dog now who is a rescued stray from the shelter. If anyone else in my home goes out the dog behaves he is fine. If I go out and no one is home and he is home alone, he will completely destroy the place. If I go out and someone else is home he will find things to destroy, go in the garbage etc. If anyone else goes out and I stay home, he is fine. I am not going to be staying home forever just because of this, and he is learning that I do come back, but he still has issues and it will take time. This is most often the biggest issue for dogs. Dogs will also have fear phobia, such as thunderstorms, lightning, fireworks, this can cause a dog stress. To many changes can stress a dog, major changes in the home, remodeling, moving, new animal coming to the home, lots of new people suddenly coming.

you mention of phobias made me laugh remembering last spring.. I had just moved into a new town and I let the two dogs into the house because the rain was coming. There were tornados all over the state but where I was had no basement and I really was unsure how far away any of these tornados were. The 2 dogs and 3 cats followed me all around while I paced trying to figure out what I was going to do. They were all surrounding my feet as they were just as scared as I was. I finally burst out laughing and told them they were no help in calming me down and they just looked at me like well yeah that is your job.

Of course they do have stress and tensions and they get bored too. Do you keep your dog chained? Do you leave it alone for long periods of time? Do you give it enough excercise to keep it active? Do you spend any time playing with it? Do you really show affection/love for it? Try these things and I asure you that your dogs eyes will light up when it sees you.

I am sure they can get stress. I had a dog once that got depressed and the vet put her on antidepressants. My dad about had a fit that we had to pay for the vet and pills for a sad dog.

Yes I believe that dogs can have stress. If they don't get attention from their master, boredom of staying at home, monotony of food and deseases can give them stress.

sure, they ahve stress and tensions. dogs sense various energies around them and they are very in tune with their surroundings. my dog can sense danger before i hear or see anything. the other night (about 12:30pm) i took him out to potty before bed. he is not a small dog, so i had him on leash and as soon as we got out the door he was taking me to the edge of the patio b/c someone was walking through the yards and swishing the leaves on teh ground! now, i live on a military base, so i wasn't concerned and sawyer is pretty intimidating, so i really wasn't concerned, but he was defintely stressed and tense. his hair was standing on end and he was growling a very low gutteral growl. i can tell if something is bothering him b/c he'll growl or bark and dart from one side of a room to another and dart from room to room. like if hears someone outside, like the garbage truck or the kids wlaking to school. ya know?? they def can have stress and tension. take care!
