I have some behaviour and traits which i cant explain myself, how i become like that, why i am like that.. It lead me to thinking that maybe, somehow, we inhereted these traits from our past life. Maybe we are different in our past life. Like maybe a princess, a maid, a healer, or maybe even a cat or a dog. what do you think? If you believe in past life, what do you think what you are then before?

Hmmmm? That's a difficult one. It's a possibility
that we have had previous lives and perhaps we
return as someone or something else. If that were
the case, I would say we're being rewarded or we're
being punished for our past. That depends on what it
or who you are now.
Another alternative is we're not reborn at all. With
the exception of living with inherited traits reborn
into us from our ancestors. Sort of like having a part
of each previous relative as a piece of our complete
puzzle.

Right, the first one is rebirth or reincarnation.
I find that a little hard to believe only for this assessment. If we are constantly being reborn than
that would mean there was a limited number of souls
to begin with. In addition, with the population on
the rise, that would mean the demand for souls would
run short. I highly doubt animals are reborn into
human souls.
The second option seems more likely because we carry
the genetic make-up of all our ancestors. This is why
we evolve. Our brains carry over from generations past
all that man has learned. Each generation contributes
to the advancement of mankind. This isn't always a good
thing though. We also carry any psychological disorders
from each generation as well. Thus, we have the good
and bad of mankind.
This is only my humble theory. Nothing to heavy. However,
I did learn a lot about mankind when I was one of the
original scientists performing psychological and
behavioral tests with the Dharma Initiative.
Hmmmm, what do you think about that secretbear?

you made me Lost jumpinjack! lol i was beginning to think that you really are a scientist who worked on a mankind project but then, you mentioned the Dharma initiative! lol i was already like, "OMG, im chatting with a real scientist???" lol
anyway.. well, i think the world wouldnt run out of souls coz there is a higher Being that creates it. maybe sometimes He gets tired of creating one so He just lets one soul to reincarnate. lol or, this is much better, he wants to punish a soul coz it lived so bad that He reincanated it and turn it into a lowly living being like a cockroach, so that he could suffer more. so there would be no Hell, only heaven. and that Hell is really the world. i am really amazed by the Hindu belief, (it is the Hindu belief right? lol) that a person can exit from the cycle of being reincarnated only after he reached Nirvana. so i guess some souls would be like, a hundred years old or a thousand years old. geez.. im already ancient! lol

so regarding the first one that you said, its like having to believe in reincarnation right?
and the second one, that's an interesting possibility. maybe it could be the reason why some people are so alike with one of their ancestors. and this could really be possible since our hereditary traits are of course carried by our genes which are from our ancestors.

No I actually do not believe in Past life.I do not think that a past life exists. I certainly believe in Future Life (not on earth but Heavens or Hell)but not in past life. How can a person be a dog in the past life. It does not make sense.

Well, it would make sense if you think that all souls of all living being are the same. and being a different living being after being reincarnated is a symbol of like a punishment or reward.
anyway, i also believe in the afterlife. coz i believe we have souls. and after we die, there are ony 3 places where the souls can go, either in heaven, hell or in the purgatory.

no, no.. you're not creating any ambiguity here. i welcome all opinions that people here in myLot could share. all that has been said here has been interesting for me and im thankful for all the responses. i've always been interested with this aspect of life, religion in a narrow aspect because im curious of what will exactly happen if i die. although i believe in heaven and hell, and that humans have soul, i still find myself thinking sometimes what will happen if i die? if my mind stops from thinking and my heart stops from beating? will i still feel? or rather, does the soul feel? things like that. ^__^
your comment was really interesting and i was kinda.. i dont know... happy to know that your religion is Islam and you have shared this information to me. ^__^

of course, there are black sheeps in every different religions, even in the most holiest (as they claim) religion. i guess we could see in our history why Muslims have always been tagged and suspected as terrorists. but i wouldnt include myself with those people who are judgemental. people are just the same irregardless of religion right? ^__^
wow. did u copy that from your Quran book or u really know that word by word? ^__^ just kidding. im embarassed. if i wanted to quote something from the Bible, i wouldnt know where to look. lol i admit, im not a bible-reader. i dont even go to church regularly. but im a believer i guess. ^__^

I believe in reincarnation most definately and yes I also think its possible to carry behaviours/traits etc from one life into the next BUT I dont think its necessarily common...What was I in past lives? I guess I've never really thought about it now that you've mentniond it LOL

hmmm.. that's another idea. reincarnation being uncommon. yeah, as we've said above there are less people before than now so the excess people now have newly created souls. which means, not all the people now are reincarnated. its good to have your view. ^__^

I think about anything is possible. I haven't experienced what I felt was a past life, but you never know! My son (6yrs. old) talks about before he came to live with mommy and daddy. That kind of freaks my husband out a little. I figure that it is his imagination, or maybe something like a past life. I just let him talk and I listen. My family is mainly of Irish and Scottish decent, so we grew up believing that there are things that can't be explained.

I think I was probably a maid or something. I like to keep things clean and can't stand when they are out of place.

Yeah, it could be that we're just imagining things. But how can we imagine if we dont have any ideas to imagine on? Yeah, anything is possible. So maybe the reason why can we imagine things is because it is there, i mean it maybe had existed, maybe we have experienced it, have felt it.. y'know.. geezz, what am i saying! ^__^;;
i guess im a collector before, coz i like to collect things, cute and pretty things. ^__^
