I am a true organic, although not certified, gardener. I love working out in my acre yard during the growing season. I have mainly perennials and some evergreens in my yard. I have a constant compost pile going and use the leaves in the fall to mulch my flower beds and garden. Piled high in the beds, they break down over the winter and the perennials pop up right thru it in the spring. I have a mulching mower to mow my lawn and the grass clippings fertilize it. I use no chemical fertilizer or insecticides in my yard and only use round-up on my gravel driveway since the grass likes to take over it quickly. My whole yard went from barren soil full of weeds when we 1st bought it to thick and lush grass, flowers, veges and practically weed-free in 6yrs. All our neighbors want me to make their yards as nice as mine now. lol I love it cause it's a great way to tune in with nature and destress.

I grow several plants at home, cacti and bonsai, I keep myself busy with those cute plants especially the cacti since they are not that common and are very lovely to look at.

I love to watch things grow both inside and outside. And I agree it is a big responability. Plants take care just like a child needs care and it is up to us to provide it. I think gardening is like therapy for me, plus it is a good way to teach kids about taking care of things. My kids have a small garden in the yard and when they dont take care of it their plants die.
