From a 9 star to a 4?

I don't understand why my ratings dropped so drastically. Obviously I've said something that offended someone. It's fine if people don't agree with me, variety of thought and difference of opinion are the spice of life. However, the negative rating isn't for punishing people for viewing things differently than you do. It's for 1 or 2 word posts, posts that make no sense, things of that nature.
I know this has been happening alot on here lately-makes me second guess the whole ratings system.
Any thoughts?

I had just recieved an alert from my lot awhile ago after I send a message concerning my rating that was stuck for several days no matter how many best responses I get still it stuck to that rating that triggers me to write myLot and they send me alert that they have some technical problems with the rating system several days that why our rating was stuck and now it was upgraded already.
I was happy with my star now. I guess everybody is. Cheers to us.

Dara check it out now you are a 10.
The exact same thing happened to both me and my friend this morning. She had responded to one of my discussions and she
was the 3rd response well someone else cut and pasted the exact same answer to my discussion a little while later. It was a lengthy response and they copied it word for word.
So we both reported him and put comments under his copied message. This is all within the half hour. After reporting him both of us dropped to 7's. I couldn't believe it. But then when we went right back in we are 10's now. I've been a 9 all along so it's great to see a 10. Anyways your a 10 now too. BTW they have already erased that duplicate response in my discussion so way to go Mylot for your quick action.

Just got back on here and noticed myLot had some problems and fixed them. Glad to know it was a glitch and nothing more!

Dara, I know how you feel! I was there not too long ago and it really felt bad! The MyLot rules and regulations are not really clear as to how/why the star ratings go up or down. Some of the members say it is because of negative ratings, some say it is because they answer "hot topic" questions, some say it's because they don't post enough. I have no idea of what it is. I do know that the next day my star rating went right back up to where it was. Don't worry, just keep doing what you have been doing, and we will keep answering your posts~Donna

You should be happy that yours was just a glitch, mine turned from blue to red. But I'm not that much disappointed, I know that someone must've been envy at my ratings. Because I know that I'm posting to discussions responsibly and in a nice manner, I know nobody here that I've offended to give me a negative rating. I think I'll just have to deal with it, but I do have to find out also who the culprit was!;)

wow. that's big change but it would have taken more than one offense to get it to drop that bad. looks like your back up to a 9 now. that's good. i would've been devastated. i don't rate negative to someone who thinks differently than me. i do rate negative for a hateful or mean response. like the 2 on the one about cutting. there on the 3rd and 7th pages. i think. others rated them negative too because of what they said. but they said i was whacked and a wussy. so they deserved it.

I see that your star rating has raised back to a 9! You must be happy.
I think that people use the rating systems as a way to bully posters. I have never given a negative rating to people who disagreed with what I've posted. Sometimes, though, I have given negative ratings to people who were downright rude and insulting. To me, if you're going to use my discussions as a way to trash-talk me or others, I will rate it negative.
Good luck with your posts!

I think you're right. I think people misunderstand how to use the rating system. It's not for when you disagree with something. Maybe they should reread the community standards where it explains when to use it.
Here's what it says about the rating system in regards to someone disagreeing with you.
What if I disagree with someone? Should I give that response or comment a negative rating?
Absolutely not! In fact, if you disagree with a response or comment, but still feel it positively contributes to the discussion, you should rate it positively. Differing opinions and viewpoints tend to make for the most interesting discussions.

I don't know, this entire star thing really leaves me with my moth wide open, I was giving quality posts for about 5 days or more, at least in my opinion and until yesterday I only had a 2, but today it suddenly changed to a 9, I was shocked to he how these things change like the ups and downs of a roller coaster. I'm glad mine went up though I felt very bad with my sad 2.
I think sometimes people just get bored and target people to -, or one theory I have is if you write a lot and don't get rated at all, I'm wondering if that might drop it to.
