Ad Alerts from Ebay

I have wondered over the past few days why certain ad alerts are shown when on am on myLot responding to or creating a new discussion. I understand that when I respond to a discussion the ad could be triggered by the topic of that discussion. I also noticed that the Ebay Ads are very set for me in particular. Do you know how these AD's work ? Do they some how come from your intersts and pick something from there ? I am just curious because it is strange that the Ebay Ads are so specific to one of my interests.
