I don't often come across fans of Cyndi Lauper, mainly i think becuase i'm British and she's not been that big in the UK really apart from with Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, True Colours and I Drove All Night. No one i know other than my bloke and my brother (and a few other family memembers i talk about her with) have even heard of her later stuff like The Body Acoustic and At Last.
So i found out that there are 19 of you on here who are interested in her to please come and discuss all about her with me so i can talk about one of my interests that i so rarely get to talk about!
Think thing we could discuss - how did you become a Cyndi fan?
As for me, well i heard Girls Just Wanna have Fun on this old movie called Night of the Comet, asked my mum who is was by, and of course she always knows those kinds of things so told me. This was around about 1992-93, and in 1994 Cyndi release Hey Now Girls Just Wanna Have Fun in the UK, so i bought the single (incidentally my first ever single) which i played loads and loads, making my brother a fan in the process! I've loved her ever since.

Like you I'm a big Cyndi Lauper fan. I don't really remember when I fell in love with her, it just seems I have been in love with her music as long as I can remember. I have actually seen her in concert, up close and personal too. Still have the ticket stub and program.

I am also a fan of hers. We almost share the same birthday (different years). Saw highlights of her at the Gay Games in that rainbow Statue of Liberty outfit. Is the gay games on a dvd set somewhere? I want it.

I saw her as a child in the Goonies video, I thought she was so unique with her hair :). I liked all her singles as a kid that they played on the radio such as Time After Time, Girls Just Want To Have Fun, True Colors, Change of Heart, I Drove All Night, etc. I started liking her more when I was in high school. I could relate to many of the songs in Hat Full of Stars and I just loved some of the songs on Sisters of Avalon. When I heard A Night To Remember I was hooked, I just love pop songs, and she did it for me. The concerts I went to: the first time she was with Cher (I think it was 1999 or something), then again in 2002 with Cher and then Cyndi did a summer tour promoting her At Last album, oh her voice was soooo beautiful! I just want to cry with joy every time I hear her live. :).

She really has some true talent, I wish I could see her perform live if she still does that.

As a little girl I heard Girls just wanna have fun, I would have been about 4 - 5 years old and I just feel in love with her quirkiness! My dad took me to see her in concert when I was about 7 - 8 years old (awww thanx dad!). I remember praying to god, whom I didnt really believe in (hahaha) that id start believing in him if he let me meet her! I never met her... lmao. Since then I have followed her every album and have adored her. She just has that something special I am so happy that she is still around!

When I saw the video Girls Just Want To Have Fun, I fell in love with Cyndi. Since then, I have often looked out for anything new from her. It is nice that she has a Rainbow Tour now in USA. I miss seeing her in the Top 10.

I saw 2 episodes of the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson where she performed, she was impressive.
